Travel Tips for Saarbrücken

Saarbrucken city. Make sure...

by Mr_Edd_20

Saarbrucken city. Make sure you visit the War museum in Saarbrucken, it has many artifacts and pictures of the horrors of WWII. Saarbrucken was involved in 86 days of continuous fighting, ending with the seige of the city in March 1945, by the 70th Infantry Division. In all, they captured 1,724 prisoners while sustaining 862 casualties: 149 killed, 692 wounded, and 21 missing.

Do not miss the exciting scenery near Saarbrucken! The hills look amazingly green, and when the weather is fine (to do justice to the place I must say that I have never seen bad weather in that part of Germany, but I've been there only in summer) they look just fantastic set against the blue sky.

The Nauwieserviertel is a neighborhood in Saarbrücken, that you can find right behind the Johanneskirche. It has become quite a hip neighborhood in the past few years, so you'll be able to find plenty of interesting shops there, as well as nice Cafés and Restaurants/Bistros. I just love to walk around the Nauwieserviertel and look at the old buildings, discover the cutest little places, and just have a nice time! I might be biased though, this used to be my neighborhood when I was living in SB after all!

This is Saarbrucken, Germany. I onl have 4 pictures of it, so I'll post them all. I know I should have more, aybe they're hidden somewhere in my computer. This picture is of the city and of the Saar River.
Overall, Saarbrucken is a modern, yet mid/small sized city, and is perfect for just taking a stroll on its streets and shopping.
