Warndt Hotel Waibel: Excellent food

I had chosen this hotel because of the attached restaurant, which serves excellent food. The hotel itself was completely average, nice and clean, but nothing special.
There is a sauna and a fitness room, but we didn't use them during our stay there. The hotel is in the tiny village of Karlsbrunn, in the Warndt forest, close to a small deer park. I'm sure in summer it would be a good base for hiking tours.

A very friendly dog is guarding the place, though as friendly as he is to the guests I'm not sure how much of a watch dog he'd be.

I had not said anything about a non-smoking room when booking, as I had not thought this would be necessary when the restaurant is completely non-smoking. So I was surprised when we were given a smoking room. It was not too bad, but next time I'll ask for a non-smoking room.

Breakfast was very good. This is a family run hotel/restaurant and the emphasis clearly is on restaurant.

We paid 73 Euro for a double per night, which I think is a bit too much for what they were offering, especially as it was off-season and it's a small village.
