I checked the rates of this hotel before we booked for the 2nd time at the Bristol. We had seen the hotel, and it does look really nice, and very central, off Main Street. However I didnt like the prices, I therefore emailed to see if I could get a better price and I did but it was still almost double of the price at the Bristol. About £125.00 per night, way too expensive I think.
It does have a lot of amenities and a roof top swimming pool. Theme: HotelComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Governors ParadePhone: 350 70500Directions: Off Main Street into Library StreetWebsite: %FC%CV%S4%B%Mwww.gib.gi/eliotthotel/

Bristol Hotel Pool by bugalugs As there are not many hotels on Gibraltar, two of which are very pricey, the Bristol I think is a good choice. A double exterior room in the summer season is £69.00. Since we visited the prices have now gone up by £10.00 a night.
There is heating in the winter, air conditioning in the summer (although not properly ducted air con more like a fan heater which blows some cool air, a mini fridge, satellite tv, hair dryer, radio, and ensuite facilities. Private pool with bar and snack bar. The pool has a sliding roof which is pulled over in the winter time. Breakfast is available with is a buffet self service continental breakfast and is £5 per head, which I think is pretty expensive. Rock Hotel by bugalugs This is another hotel where you need to take a mortgage out to stay one night. Room rates are something in the region of ?190.00 a night, well they were when I checked before we went. That price does include a full english breakfast though!
It has a freshwater pool, with poolside bar. It was built in the 1930's and guests include Winston Church and Errol Flynn. It may be better if you wanted to stay here to book on a package deal it might be cheaper than flying over and then renting a room. Hotel Bristol by bugalugs On both our visits we stayed here at the Bristol hotel. Obviously the first time we came we hadnt been before and didnt know what it was like, but we found it fine. A little tatty in some respects, could do with some decorating, but the place was clean and staff very good. It was built in 1893 and is the longest established hotel on Gibraltar.
Outdoor pool, snack bar, bar, vending machines. Caleta Hotel by bugalugs We didnt stay here, but we did walk up to see it last November when we visited. Its a bit of a walk from Main Street and the shops, restaurants and bars, although they do have these amenities at the hotel.
Reading their web page it does have quite a few facilities, bars, restaurants and they look really nice, but it is a bit more expensive. Its just the remoteness that put me off. Theme: HotelComparison: about averageAddress: Caleta BayPhone: 350 76501Directions: Walking towards the airport, as you reach the roundabout turn right instead of heading on over the airport runway. Its probably about a 20 minute walk along that road.Website: %FC%CV%S4%B%Mwww.caletahotel.com

I have just been reading a leaflet on accommodation in Gibraltar and found a couple of hotels I didnt know about. One was much the same price as we paid, but I also noticed apartments called Ocean Heights. They sound fine, and in easy reach of things, nearer to the marina. The prices sound good as well Typical prices are Studio apartment with fully fitted kitchen - 1 night ý35. 1 week ý190.00 1 bedroom apartment etc - ý45 per night ý255.00 per week. Towels, bedding etc is included. Sounds pretty good value to me.
There is a large swimming pool and although it is fully furnished etc, you have to pay for the hire of a tv if you want one. Theme: OtherPhone: 350 71250Directions: I think its down near the marina areaWebsite: %FC%S4%CV%B%Mwww.gib.gi/herald

The Caleta Hotel, looking down from the Top of the by St_Vincent I stayed here in February 2002 and was very satisfied although it is a fair walk or a bus ride away from the main town. I recommend getting a room with a sea view as the Rock is filled with noisy sea birds in the early mornings. Being on the Eastern side of the Rock you will also benefit from a wonderful sunrise. Nice public areas and restaurant. Very comfortable rooms and I could not fault the service.
It's location, whilst at times a bit inconvenient, does make it a quiet and peaceful hotel to stay at. There is a beautiful enclosed garden at one side that provides a nice peaceful haven. Theme: HotelComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Catalan Bay village.Directions: It is located on the Eastern side of the Rock next to the Catalan Bay fishing village. I have also seen this referred to as the Caleta Palace Hotel
