Caletta Palace: Not a palace but very nice
  • Satisfaction:
  • We have stayed in the Caletta Palace a couple of times now. We always try and get sea view rooms becasue there is nothing nice than waking up and opening the curtains and looking out on the Mediteranean. I'm not used to hotels so I dont know how the Caleta compares but to me it seems pretty good. There is a small gift shop, a few restaurants ( the brekafast buffet is very good), confernece rooms etc etc.

The only disadvantage I can think of ( apart from the cost which I wouldnt be able to afford without going with my parents) is that it is on the opposite side of the Rock to the town so you either have to get the bus or a taxi every time you want to go shopping or visit most of the attractions. However it does mean it is quiter than in the town.

The Caletta is built on a large precipice of Rock on the southern end of Catalan Bay and some of the sea view rooms are right above the sea. infact the waves even undercut the rock that the Caletta is on so you can feel the waves hit.

The pool is saltwater but really nice, as is the whole sun-lounging area. There is a set of stairs that go straight down onto the beach as well. I like to swim in the sea, come back up and go in the pool, which then seems warm.

    Continental Hotel: Continental Hotel
This is a one star hotel with seventeen rooms in the middle of Main Street. Parking would be quite difficult as this area is only for pedestrians. The hotel is clean but a bit run down and outdated. The cafeteria does serve nice breakfasts. I beleive that this is the only hotel in Gibraltar that accepts dogs.

    Satellite Television in all rooms
    Air conditioning
    Bar
    Dogs welcome by arrangement
    Restaurant
    Lifts
    24 hour security
    cafeteria

    Elliot Hotel: Elliot Hotel
The Elliot Hotel was built in 1979 and refurbished in 1999, used to be called The Holiday Inn. It has a roof top pool, and parking facilities are available. The hotel is situated a two minute walk from Main Steet. This must be one of the better hotels in Gibraltar.

Governor's Inn Self Catering Appartments: Self Catering in Gibraltar
  • Satisfaction:
  • Stayed there for 2 nights in August 2005. The appartments are 3 flats above an internet cafe/printing firm. There is one on each floor and we had the unfortunate "pleasure" of having the top one. The place was clean and fully equiped with large cooker, microwave and fridge. The general appartment was tired to say the least, but for £55 a night for 5 it was no worse that you might expect for the money.

Hotel "Mediterraneo": Close to "The Rock"
  • Satisfaction:
  • Not to be compared to the Marriott, its nevertheless a clean and AFFORDABLE place, very close to the entrance to Gibraltar-about 5 min by car - and offers a buffet style breakfast. Next door is a clean chinese restaurant that also serves a variety of other foods.

View of the Rock and the ocean. We stayed 2 nights, and would use it again.

    Ocean Heights: Ocean Heights
These apartments are right in the centre of town, parking in this area can be a problem but there is a pay car park nearby. The building exterior needs repainting and in the past it is known that there has been problems with cochroaches. The apartments also have a small terrace pool.

    Queen's Hotel: Queen's Hotel
The Queen's Hotel is regarded as one of the cheaper hotels in Gibraltar, remember hotels in Gib are expensive. This hotel is situated at the end of main street, there are free parking facilities in front of the hotel, also there is a bus stop nearby.
