O'Callaghan Eliott Hotel
2 Governors Parade,
Best hotel in Gibraltar
Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights this July.Room comfortable and very clean and tidy.Breakfast amazing( a little steep at £17 so make sure you get a package).Lovely pool and a small gym .
would recommend this hotel to anyone ,only 100 yds from main st and 7min walk to casemate square or 10 min to the marina which in my opinion is the best place to go in Gibraltar for a variety of places to eat and drink.
Unique Quality: Restaurant is on the top of hotel as is the pool.Lovely views eating breakfast.
Stop by and say Hi to Sugarpuff's Mum!

A personal view from myself as my mum works there! It is in a great location and the rooms are very nice. The night reception staff are exceptional (my mum that is!) and can always help with any questions you may have about Gibraltar, Spain or getting to Tangier perhaps. If you do stay here and pass by reception from 11pm onwards, stop by and say Sugarpuff says "HELLO!"...thanks!!!
"The Eliott Hotel was fantastic! i think we would stay here again sometime soon. we thought that Gibraltar was wonderful too!!!"
"I stayed one night in this Hotel in September while visiting Gibraltar on business.
The staff like everyone in Gibraltar were completely charming and helpful. The hotel is right in the centre and conveniant for the centre of town. The rooms are clean and confortable. I only ate breakfast in this hotel and it is worth doing this for the view which is great. Small swimming pool on the roof as well. I would recomend this Hotel to anyone visiting Gibraltar. I could not find anything wrong with it.
Check-in was very efficient and we had been allocated a sea view room on the 4th floor. You can pay extra for a guaranteed sea view or request one at no extra charge if one is available. The room was clean and well equipped and the bathroom had a very big shower cubicle - and a nice strong shower to wake you up in the morning! There was small balcony looking out across the bay - not the best of views, you needed to be higher up for those, but obviously they are saved for the people who pay for them! Nevertheless we enjoyed watching the boats come and go and all the building work that is going on down on the harbour. Breakfast is on the top floor and had everything you could want.
Unique Quality: The Hotel is named in honour of one of Gibraltar's most valiant defenders, has recently completed a programme of rejuvenation as the hotel was built in 1974 and rejuvenated in late 1999.
The Rooftop Conference and Banqueting area has panoramic views of the oceanic gateway. The Eliott Hotel Gibraltar has a variety of flexible suites, complete with the audio visual technology. The conference suites extend to the first floor where the hotel has three meeting rooms, including a fully equipped boardroom, and finally the ground floor where there is a Restaurant and Bar.The Eliott Hotel Gibraltar has an array of guest accommodation with each room finished to international standards. Many of the guestrooms at the Hotel Eliott Gibraltar provide what has been described as wonderful views across the Straits of Gibraltar and beyond to the outlining landscape of the African Continent, due to its location on the coast of Gibraltar.
Safe Sea/lake view (most rooms)
Directions: Just north of Main Street, up the road from the Early Learning Centre and Newcastle Building Society.
The Elliot Hotel was built in 1979 and refurbished in 1999, used to be called The Holiday Inn. It has a roof top pool, and parking facilities are available. The hotel is situated a two minute walk from Main Steet. This must be one of the better hotels in Gibraltar.
Unique Quality: Fitness room/gym
Outdoor swimming pool
I checked the rates of this hotel before we booked for the 2nd time at the Bristol. We had seen the hotel, and it does look really nice, and very central, off Main Street. However I didnt like the prices, I therefore emailed to see if I could get a better price and I did but it was still almost double of the price at the Bristol. About £125.00 per night, way too expensive I think.
Unique Quality: It does have a lot of amenities and a roof top swimming pool.
Directions: Off Main Street into Library Street
Fantastic, best one so far i've stayed in here.Top quality but it is a 4 star.Rooms lovely, staff great nothing to complaib about at all.Thouroughly recommended this one.Breakfast is amazing too!
Unique Quality: Great views from roof top to the Rock & to the Bay of Gibraltar.Another bonus is theres a pool up there also so can't be bad a.
Directions: turn left just past tesco
sorry cannot answer this very...
sorry cannot answer this very well as I lived there, but there are nice hotels in gib..the most expensive being the Rock Hotel..unless you want to wallow in colonial style decor, and have a swimming pool that is salt water!! dont waste your money..there are plenty of good hotels in Gib that are just as good..the last new one I saw there was the Elliot hotel..which is the ex-holiday inn..rooms are nice and its your basic holiday inn style.
Unique Quality: the Elliott hotel is in the centre of town, ideal as a short hop from the local nightlife!!
More about O'Callaghan Eliott Hotel
As 3 friends who all worked in Gib a few years ago we were going back for a reunion with old friends. We booked a triple room but when we arrived the room had 2 beds and 2 sets of everything.
Friends who had brought us from the airport and were waiting to take us out had to wait while this was rectified. No apology from the staff was offered.
The hotel wasn't busy but we were put in a first floor room with no view apart from rubble and weeds. Thankfully we weren't in it for any length of time.
Surely it would make sense to give guests the best rooms available.
Been to Gibraltar four times now and always stayed at The Rock, but wanted a better quality Hotel this time as it was my daughters birthday and nearer the town centre, great location, lovely, clean and spacious bedrooms and very good breakfast's.
The staff are very good and helpful, can not fault it, in fact going back again in March. The Rock is very good but not as clean and friendly as The Eliott.
Clean, friendly and excellent position
We would definitely stop at this hotel again if we returned to Gibraltar. We had very disappointing weather, but would imagine that the pool area and the square immediately outside the hotel would be wonderful on sunny days and evenings.
The rooms were fine, but it was the staff who give the hotel it's biggest edge. All were helpful and friendly, seeming to enjoy excelling at their various roles.
I wouldn't advise ever going to Gibralter over Easter however. We had no choice as we were there to meet a ship, but found everything closed from Saturday afternoon until Tuesday and many bars also delayed opening until after Easter.
Not a great selection of bars and restaurants either, although some of the better ones may have been closed. Good evening spent in an Italian in Casemates Square (the main hub) otherwise mostly pub grub and fish and chips. We also had a good meal in the Eliots hotel restaurant.
Once the new Flygib service from Manchester starts this would be a good weekend away destination as the airport is 10 mins from the hotel so no travel hassle. We will return, but in summer, when Gibraltar is warm and open!
