More about Grand Hotel Holiday Resort
My family (kids_13/10),stayed at the Grand Hotel for 1 week as part of our stay and cruise with ocean village. We were very impressed with the standards of cleanliness, the pools were immaculate and cleaned nightly, sunbeds hosed down early morning(if you put your towels down and go for breakfast they will get wet!!). The food was superb and lots to choose from, and the waiting staff were lovely, very polite and professional. Our family room was on the ground floor looking on to the main pool which was so handy, but if i had a room way at the top of the hill i think i would have been a bit disapointed.
The family room could have been better, very basic and not enough storage for a family of 4,though you can upgrade rooms for none familys. We had an issue with ants from the first night we arrived and had to get someone to spray the room 3 times, they even managed to get into a zipped lunch bag containing boiled sweets, wrapped individually and in a bag!! We asked for 4 extra pillows as they only provide 1 each but that was no problem. Hersonissos was a 25 min walk to the left, but was a very young crowd and busy,Stalis was a 13 min walk to the right, and had plenty of bars ect, though quieter. Not much in the way of nice beaches here, you would need to hire a car to the other side of Crete, but as we were just relaxing here for 1 week we didnt. The Animation team were brill, and kept everyone amused all day,the deserve a medal!,The evening shows were rubbish but the kids had fun.If i ever went to crete again i would recommend the hotel, but not the actual resort.
Loved our first time in Greece
Returned from a family hol (2 adults 2 kids 8 & 12) at the Grand 1 week ago and loved it.As in previous reviews the hotel was spotless, rooms were cleaned daily and staff very friendly. We were based near the middle pool which was for over 16 s only so had to use the top pool with slides or the animation pool - no issue with sunbeds plenty for all - the usual suspects though, leaving towels on and appearing late pm.Food very good but cost of lunch could build up especially with costs of drinks - we found Gorti's supermarket 5 min walk away which sold lovely sandwiches-drinks/ice creams cheaper at the on site shop. The beach at Stalis, 10 mins walk away is sandy and the sea great for kids, ours could walk out 50metres and still be up to their shoulders! Also a man walked along the beach selling fresh doughnuts every couple of hours.Have to recommend the Jeep Safari - excellent - full day out, kids learnt alot and we are still talking about it.Would be wary of the barbecue that the hotel offer on on a Thursday night 16 euros extra each, kids half price plus the cost of drinks, thought it expensive for what you got and there was not much that the kids liked.Would highly recommend taxi ride,7/8 euros to Koutouloufari - Gallini's restaurant -fantastic, we went twice, food and service like no other.
The absolute Love
By searching in the catalogues, my wife and myself found separately this hotel. And everything as described became reallity
The trip from the airport was quiet short and reaching the hotel,
the check inn was really fast. In the first moment you think that you need a map for the huge Area, but after a walk, we discovered fast all the accomodations. The 3 Outside Pools are absolutely nice. We had a Room on the top of the hotel area with an absolut great view and close to the Fun Pool where my son (4 1/2y) learned swimming. Close to that pool is a very nice bar with a very charming waitress. On that place we got whatever we need. About 300m from the hotel is a small beach, which is nice but small. To enjoy the real sea, you have just to go about 1km to the small village on your right, where you find a marvoulous sand beach and where my son had so much fun to hunt the waves (Eighter they hunt him :-)
The Buffet in the morning and in the evening was very hugh with every day new changes in Food. Quiet difficult not to gain weight.
The choice is absolutely big, and every Body will find the food he like.
Not to miss the Greece evening every, happen every week. The food is absolut excellent as well as the Greece Artists and some special show by the waiters.
After food you can enjoy the minidisco with the childs which is great as well as the Miniclub. The animators are defenitly professional. The bar in the Lounch is quiet in the evening but with a very nice barkeeper who handle the show.
I could write pages how nice our holidays was but one thing explain it may better! We will return there for sure.
Wish we were back!!
Have just returned from the Grand and have had to write straight away. First of all as you approach the hotel the main facade is breathtaking!! The reception is super. Was shown to our room which was located right next to the main pool area (did request a low room months in advance and it was well worth it because hotel is situated on a steep incline), the room was a spacious family room although it was only me and my boyfriend (21/23), it was very clean and maintained every day with fresh clean towels.
The food was lovely lots of choice and as I am a very fussy eater I never went hungry!! The animation team deserve special mention as they worked tierlesly form 9 am till 12 pm and made the holiday extra special. The evening shows were excellent also thanks to the animation team.
The hotel is ideally located between Hersonissos and Stalia, you could easily walk to Stalia (try the shortcut to the beach for fabulous views and lovely tavernas). Hersonissos is just a 2 minute bus ride away and i would'nt recommened walking as it is roud quite a busy road. The bus stop is situated just outside the hotel and there is also a Happy Train, which you can get.
I would highly recommend the Jeep Safari as it took you places that is just not accessable even with a hire car, and you get a beautiful traditional Greek meal and wine thrown in!!
With this being our first time abroad it way surpased our expectations, could'nt fault the Grand at all and if you can't make up your mind then I would definatly recommend this as a hotel for all!!
great hotel but
great hotel, room was lovely but beware if you have any mobility problems this is not the hotel for you, 3 swimming pools all maintained to the highest standard, but although they have a no towels on sun loungers rule this is not enforced, entertainment at night was very poor quality, and in the day was intrusive, good selection of food but quality was not good, certainly not 4*, would we stay there again? i have to say no.
I have just returned from The Grand Hotel and was really impressed with the hotel. We booked a superior room and it was really nice and spacious. The balcony was a good size too. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean. All staff were really friendly and helpful, and couldn't do enough for you. Plenty of choice of food in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Swimming pools were really nice, plenty of space around the pool and never too crowded. Animation team worked really hard and were good fun. Would recommend this hotel and would definitley return.
A week in Crete
The hotel was much better than we expected. The apartments were spacious and very clean, We were impressed by the standards throughout the complex, but we did find the price of drinks in the bar quite high. The locality was perfect..a short walk to Stallis, and the bar named International Romantica, just a few metres away, was very memorable. We would recommend The Grand Hotel to all our friends...very good value!!!!!!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Grand Hotel in September. We booked the holiday through first choice and would do so again. From the moment we stepped off the bus outside the Grand we were impressed (and so was everyone else on our bus) we arrived late at night but staff could not have been more helpful. Our luggage was brought to our room and we were led to the dinning room to eat.
We were just as pleased with our room. We had upgraded to a superior room which meant we got a beautiful balcony and a larger room that overlooked the quieter pool. (The bed was huge but it was actually two single beds joined together.) We would have liked a closer sea view so would recommend asking for a room with a view when booking.
Overall the hotel was amazing; we could have stayed there the entire holiday. As for the food and the staff, they really were second to none!
We would recommend the BBQ in the middle of the week. It costs a little extra but it’s worth it for the food, the dancing and the plate smashing! I would also recommend the hotel spa. I opted for a body scrub and a manicure, while my boyfriend relaxed in the indoor pool and we were not disappointed. A day trip to the island of Spinalonga is another must see for the sights alone.
There are so many other things that I could mention about the Grand Hotel and Spa but I don’t have the space to type. We had an amazing holiday, so much so that we want to go back next September. We would definitely recommend it!
I had the chance to stay in this fantastic hotel for 10 days, and really, it is the first time I told myself :"well here I'll be back!" It is a wonderful area, natural, green, the whole hotel area is really clean, the staff are very friendly, the cooking, HMMMM, I couldn't get enough... And the animation programm is all OK, especially in the evenings...There is a very good trafic to go to Hersonissos or Stalis... by bus, only 2 foots from the hotel entrance there is a bus stop in both directions...The nearest beach is on the other side of the street, behind the nanabeach hotel complex. The pools are wonderful (and that is writen by a non swimmer!)Well, people, what are you waiting for??? Book this hotel, you won't regret, especially when familly with kids... Wish you a nice holiday.
second visit to this Hotel. Standards remain high. Attentitive and very helpful and friendly staff. Ideally situated between two towns, hersonissos and stallis.
Rooms cleaned daily.
Food plentiful and catered for many nationalities. The addition of the al la carte restuarant was very welcome. Excellent service and a chance to taste authentic creatan food.
There is full entertainment program with animation team.
Hotel organised weekly Greek night far better organised and enjoyable. Better value for money, than the tour operator Greek night(give that one a miss)
On both visits to this hotel we have gone the tour operators organised tours- total waste of your time and money, shunted around like cattle at the Knossoss palace and spinalonga.
Wonderful places to visit, but you wont see much or have time to appreciate these places on tour op guided tours.
Cheaper to hire a car and see the sights yourself.
Back to Hotel-
just pack up and go. If you have mobility problems ask for ground floor room. They will do their best to accomodate you.
Have a great time and just remember why your there, relax and just chill.......................Bliss
