IRAKLION AND KNOSSOS
by RACCOON1
Iraklion is the gateway to Crete and the gateway to Knossos the number one tourist attraction in Crete.
Knossos is a must see but you should read some Bronze Age Minoan History before you go. The site as per the map in the picture is approximately 100 m by 100 m
Knossos was probably flattened when the Santorini volcano erupted. The reconstruction of the Palace is impressive but the Santorini Arch. Site of an equivalent Palace is more impressive .

Greek dance
by sunsea
Greeks are haveing many traditional dances and the most beautiful music in the whole world (to me). If you can see what is going on on this picture I will tell you: There is a table, on the table is a bottle, on the bottle is a glass and on the glass is a Greek dancer!
Packing List
by Pavlik_NL
For hikers, take a head or baseball-cap against the bright and burning sun. Also, take real good boots. The rocky paths are no match for weaker shoes. For beachlovers it is wise to take some plastic slippers as most coast is rocky and there are only few sandy beaches. Some 'Norit' can be usefull if your digesting system is sensitive for olive-oil. Sunburn-protective cremes are a must.
Gavdos, Chryssi, Psiloreitis and so on...
by AndyRG
It is a big island, which means that you can still find many "hidden" places, undiscovered caves, beaches, gorges... Islands like Gavdos, the southern point of Europe (this painting about it was made by a 12 years old girl), or Chryssi, a real paradise with no inhabitants, deserve not just a simple visit. They can even change your philosophy about life...
It will not be difficult, also, to climb to the top of the highest mountain (Psiloreitis, 2.456 m) or Lefka Ori. Try it!
