Sonio hotel: Beach hotel

Sonio Motel is in Platanias, not far from Chania. It has a pool, but the long stretching beach is just 3 steps away. Its location is quiet, but still close to the small centre of Platanias.

Grecotel Creta Palace: Familyoriented luxury hotel

We stayed at Creta Palace at April 2006. We chose Creta Palace because of our 2-year old son Pyry.

Creta Palace is a huge resort outside Rethymnon. Several restaurants, well maintained outdoors and long beach. These are the main elements when travelling with kid.

We had a junior suite, which was roomy enough for three persons. Direct access to the terrace and the beach was huge advantage. All staff was friendly and efficient. Nothing was impossible.

The resort is closed at wintertime and was opened just few days earlier we arrived. Everything was still in good order.

Unique Quality: Two big outdoor pools and one indoor pool. Two buffet restaurants and couple of other restaurants. Shops. Minimarket.

Fodele Beach Hotel: A great hotel!

The hotel is located near the village of Fodele (birth place of "El Greco").
Well, I did not found the village very inerresting but everything you need is in the hotel (shop, restaurants, snack, disco, pool) and the beach is just beside.
When I went there, the original purpose of my holidays was only to "de-stress" for 1 week before a period of very-busy-work. I needed a rest and I had no plan exepted beach-sitting and coktail-tasting. The only minitrip I made was a visit to Heraklion witch is the nearest (25kms) from the hotel but, a barman told me later that it's probably the dirtiest place in Crete! But now that I know this, if I'm lucky to go back to this hotel, I will beter visit places like Chania or Rethymnon.
But ok, if for exemple, you're travelling with your kids, this is a really good place with a lot of animations during the day and the evening.
Unfortunately this hotel is not recommended to the people who have difficulties of moving because there are too many staircases.

Unique Quality: Everything you need is in the hotel:
Shops, restaurants, snack, bars, disco, pools and shortly, an aquacenter!
A lot of animations organized by a super sympatic team during the day and the evening.

Alexandros Studios: Great place to stay for family

We had a great time in Crete this summer โ€“ Kalamaki Chania. Made lots of trips to Elafonisi, Samaria gorge, Gramvousa, Chora Sfakion, Loutro, Rethimno. Beautiful beaches and nature, great people. We stayed in Kalamaki โ€“ part of Chania, which is amazing town, apartments Alexandros โ€“ self-catering, quiet, clean place and very friendly and helpful owners Michael and Inka. I suggest it: http://www.alexandros-studios.com

Unique Quality: the hotel has it's own mini market, pool bar service, very friendly environment. Cleaning service is daily, our room had a see view. And also it has got a common payed laundry room.

Bella Vista hotel: Luxurious hotel

The delightful hotel Bella Vista is set in a peaceful position on a hillside enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding area, the island of Theodorou and the coastline towards Chania. A footpath from the hotel leads you down to a variety of shops, taverns and the excellent beach.

Unique Quality: The twin or double bedded rooms are very spacious. They all have fridge, radio, phone, safe and large terraces with views of the sea and the White Mountains.

Camari Garden Apartments: So you need to Relax

This is the ultimate place to relax, unwind, chat to fellow guests and enjoy the sun.
Camari Garden Apartments is a family run hotel, and they really go out of their way to get to know you and look after your every need. The hotel is approx 42 rooms, with two pools, a shop on site with a couple of bars and a restaurant. it is approx 6km from Rethymno, and will cost you approx 7 euros in a taxi to get into town, Up the hill is Gerani Village an authentic Cretan village (ie, not done up for tourists), with bars, shops and you are really made to feel welcome, down the hill is a taverna and a lovely little chapel.
If you are looking for Hustle and Bustle and lively nightlife STAY AWAY. The accomodation is spotlessly clean with helpful and friendly maid service six days a week. Self catering facilities are basic but as much as you need. The food is excellent, and basically you can have whatever you want. Let them know the day before and they will get it in for you. Home cooked Cretan Specials are regularly offered for you to try.
The circular bar creates a friendly atmosphere that allows you to mingle easily with other guests, it will stay open as long as you want to carry on having a drink, often into the early hours of the morning.

Unique Quality: This hotel has the most welcoming and friendly atmosphere we have ever experienced. Many people return year after year and you are made to feel very much, like a part of the family. You are always remembered, I only have to call and say who I am and Angela will know who I am, ask me by name how my children and husband are. Whilst this makes me feel very special, it is the same for everyone.
We have many friends from the guests at the hotel who we have met on return visits.
After a busy "normal life", with a hectic job and busy family, for two weeks I can just relax, take in some sun, a few beers, some good food and excellent company. Just what I need!!

Hotel Mari Kristin, Hersonissos, Crete: Typical Greek Hotel

One of many 3*** hotels in Hersonissos.
Location: in the centre of town, many shops, bars and restaurants around, beach is very close, about 10min walking to bar street and Star Beach. Owner of the hotel tries to keep quiet (no music during siesta and after 11pm) but it doesn't work because it's a noisy area. Hotel is good for night animals and everybody who won't spend a lot of time in the room. The food is ordinary..some Greek's dishes, fries, pasta, watermelon...Rooms are cleaned everyday. We didn't hear about stealings.

Unique Quality: Breakfasts and dinners you can it on terrace on fresh air..It's nice. Pool is very small. To be honest I've never used it. There's no special improvements in this hotel but it's ok with me because I'm not going for holidays just to spend all my time in hotel.
