While in Athens, we stayed at the Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel which is situated at the foot of the Acropolis! From our window (if we leaned out), we could view the Parthenon.

Nearby are Constitution Square & the Plaka. [The Plaka is an area of narrow, winding picturesque streets & charming boutiques.]

The hotel is air conditioned, has a restaurant, a tavern, a swimming pool, a roof garden, & shops. It has 242 rooms & 11 suites.

The rooms have a mini bar, satellite TV, direct dial phones, & private baths.

A very unique feature of the Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel is the ancient ruins found in its foundations which are incorporated in the hotel's architectural design.

The Aspassia Restaurant offers a wide menu of Greek dishes and other international specialities. The Pericles Bar adjoins the swimming pool. An added bonus is the Socrates Roof Garden that has a magnificent view of the Parthenon.

    The pictures:

    5. Our Room at the Divai Palace Hotel.

Of course, I loved the location because it was so convenient to everything. In addition, I was impressed with the marvelous bathroom which was marble everywhere!

Because of the busy street below, the windows have European shutters (which, when closed, lock out all noise).

Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel an excellent choice to stay in when visitingAthens.

Please click the photo because it is a PANORAMIC and shows a beautiful scene.

Because we were visiting the monastic community called Meteora, we stayed at the perfectly located Divani Meteora Hotel in Kalambakea, Thessaly, Greece, which is a four-star hotel.

It is located 3 km from METEORA monasteris.

The hotel has a fax service, telex, photocopying, and provisions for e-mail. It offers a restaurant with Greek cuisine, an open-air bar,Olympic-size swimming pool, private open-air parking area, card room, currency exchange, beautiful landscape, and endless gardens.

In the rooms are sound proof windows, hair dryer, air-conditioning, mini-bar, and a private bath.

The hotel itself is quite modern in its architecture and its facilities. It has 165 guestrooms with balconies that have breathtaking views...from every room one can see the 24 perpendicular rocks.

Location is the prime reason to stay here...it's like viewing a miracle when you look up to see the 24 perpendicular rocks with the monastic community built there!

It's truly a wonderful place to stay.

    Electra Palace Hotel,
    Thessoloniki
    by deecat
When in Thessaloniki, we stayed in the Electra Palace Hotel and loved it.

It was built in 1972, and I learned that it was completely renovated in 2002. When we were there, it was a 4 star hotel; it is now a 5-star hotel.

The architectural style is Bysantine. It is located in and dominates over the Aristotelous Square which is the economical, cultural, and shopping heart of Thessaloniki.

There are 130 rooms and 8 suites that are all decorated in elegant neo-classical style.
The rooms are air-conditioned, have direct dial phones, satellite TV, mini bar, safety deposit box, hair dryer, ISDN connection, voice mail system, and alarm clock. 69 of the rooms have a great and undisturbed view of the lively square and the Thermaikos Gulf.

    Non-smoking rooms are available.
The hotel has a coffee shop, English Bar, Mediterranean cuisine restaurant, pool bar and restaurant on the rooftop, health and spa club with an indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steambath, and massage room.

The best thing about this hotel is its location, its excellent restaurant, and the well-equipped rooms.

Oh, yes, I loved being able to have a non-smoking room in Greece!

Please click to see this panoramic view from deck of Amalia Hotel Delphi.

While visiting Delphi, we stayed at the Amalia Hotel Delphi which is situated on a mountain slope that offers breathtaking views of the picturesque port of Itea, a town built at the edge of a plain full of olive groves & vineyards.

It is also located within walking distance of the famed Delphi attractions: the Archaeological Museum, the Temple of Apollo, & the Castalia Fountain.

The hotel has 184 rooms, all with private bathrooms. Each room is air conditioned, has both direct dial telephone and satellite TV.
There is a restaurant, a coffee-shop, a souvenir and jewelery shop, verandas, beautiful gardens, outdoor swimming pool with a bar, and plenty of parking.

There is a "Scandinavian" look and feel to this hotel...although it is quite modern, it blends well with its landscape.

Theviews are quite remarkable; the short walk to town is lovely; the facilities are up-to-date and comfortable; and the food at the restaurant is delicious.

    Delphi - Acropole hotel
    by Kuznetsov_Sergey, 4 more photos
The Acropole Delphi Hotel is a modern family-run hotel in local traditional style, centrally located in a quiet area near the town center, with balconies open onto a magnificent & uninterrupted view of the Gorge of Delphi. It is only 400m from the Archaeological site & the famous museum.

You may watch my high resolution photo of Delphi on Google Earth according to the following coordinates 38º 28' 39.77" N 22º 28' 48.62" E or on my Google Earth Panoramio Modern Delphi Acropole Hotel.

The Acropole Hotel has 40 rooms & 2 suites.
Balconies overlook the magnificent uninterrupted view of the Corinthian Gulf and the olive groves of Itea.

This welcoming, white-painted hotel with varnished pine woodwork, on a quiet street not far from Delphi’s main attractions, is a pleasant surprise and has far more character than its attractive, but not particularly individual, exterior and stone-tiled sitting room might suggest.

The top-floor bedrooms have steeply sloping wood ceilings, in a cosy attic style. Beds and other furnishings are modern, in plain wood, and care has been taken in the choice of brightly-patterned curtains and bedcovers which brighten each room. But the big selling point is the million-dollar view from each balcony, looking down several hundred meters across the Gulf of Corinth

    Camping in Greece
  • Tip Rating:
  • SzaraManisha
  • By SzaraManisha on March 11, 2003
  • If you wan to see greece for a small amount of money, preferably choose the camping accomodation. In the low tourist season, when all the touristic places are not full with tourists it is easy to simply put up a tent on the beach for free. This is not really allowed, but hardly ever somebody will pay attention. You can wash yourself or in the sea (but then you may have problems with skin, it is a bit salty there!!!), or under the shower. There are usually showers at the beach, so there is no problem with this

This is nextremely cheap and funny, choose places where you are sure will be not too much tourists, as on the next day you may wake up in the middle og half naked tourists sunbathing (well, even in low season it is not too rare)

Domatia are private rooms that locals have for rent in the most touristic places. You don't have to book in advance (though U may), they will come to you at the main ferries arrivals, showing pics of the rooms, rates, location...

In Ithaka, I rented a private room (domatia) from an old woman I found at the street. She spoke only greek but we agreed fast.
