Hotel Sunny Villas, Unique and Memorable Experience
by TripAdvisor Member dmr12
I want to thank Andreas and his staff at Sunny Villas for their hospitality during our recent stay. My wife and I stayed at Sunny Villa for 4 nights in Sep 2006 and were quite happy with the accomodations. The cave style room and interesting layout on the side of a hill was quite unique. We did not come here expecting a 4 star hotel on flat land and we had an experience I still talk excitedly with my family and friends. Built right into the hillside with semi private patios, the view from the patio was breathtaking. We have never seen a sunset like to one we saw in Santorini and we tried to rush back to the patio each evening.
Andreas made us feel like family from the moment we arrived till the difficult time we had leaving such a beautiful island. He gave us many tips about attractions and we never felt we were taking too much of his time. The staff were most helpful when it mattered most, especially moving our luggage down and up the many stairs and walkways. The morning continental breakfast was fine though the coffee needs improvement coming from a Starbucks addict. The rooms were cleaned well and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a bit challenging given its size though we made it work. Hot water was plentiful. One day we had experienced odors from the bathroom pipes into the room as you can imagine the challenge of plumbing on the side of a hill. The problem was rectified soon after it was noticed. If we ever travel again to Santorini, Sunny Villas will be our primary choice. dmr
Great Place, Wonderful People

I wanted to say thank you to Andreas and the wonderful people at Sunny Villas. My wife and I decided to come to Santorini one day early and the hotel that we booked was full so we decided to stay at Sunny Villas.
The rooms were very traditional. Built right into the hillside and all had private patios. The view from the patio was breathtaking. I have never seen a sunset like to one I saw in Santorini.
Since we had booked the rest of our stay in Santorini we had to move after one night. When we went to check out in the morning and requested a taxi to take us to the next hotel all the taxis were full and unable to pick us up. Andreas the owner was extremely nice and drove us to our next hotel. This was true Greek hospitality!! The next time I am in Santorini I will defiantly stay at the Sunny Villas!! Thank you again!
Great Hotel

This hotel was a very good find. The staff was terrific, very nice and accomodating. The room was very clean, and had a terrace overlooking the water and volcano. The view from the hotel was absolutely spectacular. I kept hearing to stay in Fira before I went, but decided I wanted to be a bit out of town. This was a great call because the veiw from Fira was not half as good as the one from Sunny Villas. People from all over the island come to the area the hotel is in to get a shot of the sunset. The hotel also has a pool (albeit a small one) which is very refreshing on the days when one goes walking around the island during the day.
The only bad part was the bathrooms in the room. They were very clean, but were awfully small. The shower didn't even have a curtain on it because of its size so the water would spill out all over the bathroom which made it a bit uncomfortable to walk on.
Absolutely Fabulous

My boyfriend and I were looking for a romantic vacation with nice accomodations. We wanted a location that provided both outdoor activities as well as a place where we could just lounge and eat good food.
We had an amazing time in Santorini, specifically at Sunny Villas. Andreas, the owner was amazingly helpful on multiple levels. Our ferry arrived almost 2 hours late, but Andreas had someone come to get us and then took care of our luggage while we lounged at the pool (all of this was WAY before our scheduled check-in time, but they really took care of us after a LONG night on the ferry from Athens).
Andreas was able to connect us with several fabulous restaurants and activities to do around the island.
The food was excellent at Sunny Villas, and Andreas and Michael and the other workers were always available. They had a great sense of humor and were just fun people to get to know.
I had an emergency with a close friend and co-worker, and Andreas really bent over backwards to help me stay in touch with my friend. Staying there, you can just tell that Andreas and Michael are two of the most genuine people you will find and that they want to make sure your stay is the best.
When we talk about our time in Santorini, we always talk about Andreas and Michael. We even keep in touch with them now! :)
In short, we would encourage anyone to stay here. Our room was simple, but totally sufficient and the view was phenomenal. I will try to post some pictures as proof.
There is nothing better than starting your day in Greece with breakfast on your balcony... except maybe ending your day in Greece with wine on your balcony.
A wonderful place to stay!

My two daughters (ages 12 and 14) stayed here and we really enjoyed it. The room was very large with a sitting area in the front with two couches, a small kitchenette area, dining table, two baths, and a full bedroom you could close off. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and happy to help in any way they can. We arrived at the port just below Fira and it was a bit of a zoo so I would advise letting them know what time you are arriving and they can help arrange transportation to the hotel. (My kids and I took a mini- bus but the guy dropped us off at the bottem of a hill, telling us he had called the hotel and someone would be down in 10 minutes. They were but we tried to figure out where the hotel was on our own to no avail- we weren't used to thinking of buidlings and hotels being stacked vertically on each other) They were happy to call a rental car agency who brought the car and paperwork to us- Santorini is easy to get around by car and it is easier that way than by bus if you ask me. The view was awesome although like the rest of the island, the telephone wires are sometimes inconveniently draped across a scene. The pool area is down some steps from the hotel and it is a great place to watch the sunset from (there is also a bar there). There is very little shopping but several very nice restaurants nearby and the evenings are quiet. (I cannot imagine that Fira could be quiet anywhere!) The decor of the room was really warm and complete- it had a true woman's touch to it. I would stay here again without thinking about it twice! It was a very nice hotel!
