Villa Arety: Beware
We had booked Villa Arety via the Owner's Direct website for 2 weeks in July 2006. It is situated about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Khrani and the online advert indicated it was 35m from a secluded beach, with a balcony and private grounds for relaxing. While this is all correct, what wasn't mentioned was that the bungalows are immediately beside the main road along the coast. This is busy with heavy construction traffic from early to late, meaning the apartments are noisy and it's certainly not relaxing to use the balconies which look directly on to the road. The walk to the beach requires crossing the road. The Villa itself is pretty basic, with little space and minimal furniture, as well as few kitchen utensils, no kettle and no proper cooker. The beds were rock hard, it was impossible to use the shower without flooding the entire bathroom and it would be difficult to imagine more than 2 people staying there, despite it being advertised for up to 4. On the positive side, the air conditioning worked well, even though it's only in the bedroom. It's not even particularly cheap and there are much better options in the village. We moved quickly to Mary's Apartments, located next to and run by the Poseidon Cafe in the village centre. A much better option!
