Petalidi camping: Pleasant Enough

Petalidi, a few miles north of Chrani has a couple of campsites. The year we travelled overland we stayed at this campsite. There was plenty of shade,(which was very much needed) good, clean facilities and a kitchen area with cooking facilities, free for campers to use, and a restaurant. The beach wasn't brilliant, being a bit narrow and rocky but you could put up with it.

We camped under cotton?? trees which dropped cotton wool type stuff all over the campsite. There were some Bulgarians sweeping up all the time. I hate to think how little they were paid.

Camping Andreas: Peaceful looking campsite

Looked very peaceful and wonderfully shaded. Didn't seem to have all facilities open as the proprietors were in the process of " getting ready for the season" in 2004.
Had some natural sunshades on the beach.
A few camping bungalows.

Open April to Sept.

2008 update. The site wasn't open in May, there were quite a few motohomes camping on the beach on it's doorstep. Why do these places open so late in the season?

Stepped straight on to the beach. Close to village. Excellently located, within walking distance of all the village facilities.

Panorama Studios And Apartments: Nice Garden

Panorama Studios and Apartments are in three blocks in their own garden very close to the beach. Our apartment was of a decent size with a ricketty bed settee in the kitchen for Philip
It was not very well equipped, minimal cutlery, hardly any glasses,( we did have a kettle though,) and the shower was a little small .
We had a tiny side balcony and an o.k. main one looking out over the garden.
Despite the lack of equipment(we expect this in budget accommodation) we really enjoyed our stay in Panorama, being in a very peaceful area, close to the beach and amenities.

The garden was the best feature of the apartments, having tables, chairs and loungers for general use. There was also a little porch/summer house type thing at the far end which caught the evening sun. The view of the beach was another bonus.
As the apartments were at the end of the road there was no through traffic.
Twenty yards or so from the apartments were the steps down to the beach.

Georges Apartments: Peaceful Although Central

Our two bedroomed apartment was small with a tiny kitchen.Would have been better with a bigger kitchen and only one bedroom. Also the layout was strange. You entered through the first bedroom and walked through the second to reach the kitchen. THe balconies were cramped for three never mind four.
There was a grill/oven but you had to rearrange the entire kitchen to enable this to be plugged in!
It was a good job the weather was good. It would have been a little claustrophobic had we had to be cooped up inside.

Having said all the above, we enjoyed our stay. It was amazingly quiet even though we were next door to Socrates Taverna. This, in May, had usually closed by 11pm.
The apartment was actually very well equipped with hundreds of towels, t. towel, bread board, lots of crockery, two sun-brollies, mosquito nets-----it nearly compensated for the compactness of the place.
We looked out onto greenery and the sea at the front and somebody's garden and lots more rooms at the back(fortunately unoccuppied during our stay.)
George's had it's own, small parking place.
