Platanes Apartments: nice apartments

Stayed here on my first visit to the area. The apartments are quite basic, the pool which the apartments surround is nice & there was no fighting for the sunbeds. As this is a small complex you do get to know the other guests which was quite nice. The owner George is very friendly & gave us a bottle full of his homemade Raki as we left - it's very powerful! There is a bar & restaurant there but we felt the restaurant was a little expensive & there is no shortage of places to eat so we went else where. The bar was nice at night as there was music, a pool table & a satalite tv. The music from the bar does not disturb any of the apartments as it is soundproofed.
The beach is about 5-10 mins walk & ok, the sand is a little rough but there are plenty of sunbeds.
Rethymnon is about 10 minutes away & we got a taxi which cost about 5 euros or there is a regular bus that is much cheaper. I love Rethymnon, it's old town is just so quaint & the restaurants are lovely situated up tiny narrow streets with vines hanging above they are very romantic. there are lots of bars along the beach road for a livlier nightlife.
