Are there many ships arriving in Patras from Italy?
by visitcebu
Hi all, I wanted to get some advice on arriving in Patras from Italy. Are there more arrivals from Bari or there are more from Brindisi?
If we arrive in Patras late at night, are there buses to Athens from Patras even at night?
What are the bus companies? Any websites?
What about the ticket from from Patras to Athens?
Thank you for your help!

For boat schedules check the site www.paleologos.gr
There are many KTEL buses daily from Patras to Athens, from early morning to late evening.
The ticket is about 13 euros.
In Patras, the port, the railway station and the KTEL bus terminal are all at the same area, walking distance. At the railway station there is a 24/hours cafe/snack bar, very popular and low price.

Achaian (k)nights - Santomeri
by Yank_o
Patras, thanks to its character as a port, a student town and a regional metropolis, is known for good nightlife.
What is lesser known than the Patras nights, is the Patras knights.
The region around Patras, Achaia, together with neighbouring Elis (the onetime unified department of Achaeo-Elis), was the heart of Frankish presence in Southern Greece in the 13th and 14th centuries BC.
The French family of Villehardouin founded the principality of Achaia soon after the conquest of Greece (then the East Roman, or Byzantine, Empire) symbolized by the fall of Constantinople (today Istanbul) to the crusaders in 1204.
Other French families also associated their names with the region. Today, this important period of history has been immortalized in place names such as Santomeri (from the French family of Saint-Omer), Arla and other villages and small towns in the region.
Santomeri is at the side of the strangely-shaped mountain called Skollis, SSW of Patras. To get there you have to drive from Patras towards Pyrgos and then take a left turn at the industrial zone. It is a nice uphill drive that leads you to the plateau dominated by Mt. Skollis.
The "Apollon Theatre"!
by INSULARIUS
A piece of art that gives a lot of pride to the inhabitants of Patra!
It was built on 1872-at the same time when Barcelona and Paris got similar theatres-according to the plans of the famous Bavarian architect: Ernst ZILLER.
It is considered as the oldest "covered theatre" in Greece and a replica of La Scala of Milan.
In the past ,the Apollon Theatre hosted the most famous theatrical troupes and the most famous melodrama, operetta and opera performances. Now, it hosts the Regional Theatre of Patra.
