Xenonas Elaion: Traditional hotel in Elliniko village

by Aggeliki

It is a boutique hotel, with a warm and cosy atmosphere. Some of the rooms have fireplace for the gold nights of winter but it has also central heating system, and all rooms have all facilities of a 4 star hotel. The rooms are are big and each room has a special decoration which is not same with the others. I think that the best is the room with the name "Firenze".

Xiropigado: Typically Greek

by nickandchris

This was a nice little property, very Greek, looking onto the sea in Xiropigado.
It was one room with a double and single bed, small kitchen area with cooking rings and on the last day an oven arrived. (It had been in a room whose occupants had left.) The room was pretty well organised and we kept finding useful things like the sink plug etc.

This place was a relaxing stop off after leaving the hustle and bustle of Athens (where we had visited my cousin.) It was our first "rent room" on this three week holiday and we thought we'd found a little gem.

One of the most memorable things about this room was when we sat on the bed and it fell to pieces. We had been in the middle of a row. Well, it certainly made us laugh and ended the row!!
I also remember sitting on the balcony one morning and the owners on the floor above us passed down a carrier bag on a piece of string to the occupants in the room underneath them. Turned out it was a pair of glasses. I've heard it all now, sharing spectacles!

Cost was 5000drx a night. (1994)

Irene Filoxenia,Paralia Astros: Excellent Location

by nickandchris

This is where we stayed when we "packaged" with Manos on a last minute booking. Marvellous apartment in a rural location but close to the village.
The only down-side was the dog at the back (where we were) that barked loudly every time it saw anyone.

No swimming pool but fantastic views of farmland at the back.
Set in a very posh front garden.

Kyma, Poulithra: Modern Monstrosity

by nickandchris

I don't know why we chose this accommodation as it was totally out of keeping with the rest of Poulithra. I guess it was the first obvious place we came to.
It was a modern, multi-storey concrete block, but it did look out over the sea. Unfortunately the balcony was in the shade a lot of the time, making it cold to sit out ..We had to wake our hostess and daughter (siesta time) to rent the apartment. They were extremely friendly and showed us a few different rooms. We settled on a two bedroomed apartment for 6000dx. a night.

Very quiet and peaceful. Very hot shower which our hostess showed us the immersion switch for. It even had a hook for the shower head!!
Lovely views of Spetse and Spetsoula.
The strange thing was there were no sockets so we had to screw our continental plug into the light socket!! It did the job for the mozzie machine.
Unusually we were provided with towels, whereas when we have taken rooms on spec normally these are not supplied.
Air conditioning.
