frappe time
by Irine_29
After returning to Aiginas port, and while waiting for the ferry to Peraias, I take at least half an hour to enjoy my cold frappe, in a cafe, by the harbour, watching people go by....
If I am really in good mood, I can also go for an icecream or so (Superb, Ultimate pleasures ;-))

Another place where I could enjoy by copies of masterpieces from Aegina Island was the Moscow Pushkin State Museum of Art. Really I couldn't ever imagine that I would see the original of statues in Munich and the Aphaia Temple in reality...
Church of Agios Nikolaos
by Kuznetsov_Sergey
When arriving by sea closer to the port the second thing you see (after the Metropolis old temple of Virgin Mary) is the small and picturesque church of Aghios Nikolaos of the XIV-th century, which is in the middle of the harbor surrounded by ships.
Located in the port of the capital of Aegina, the little church of Agios Nikolaos is a lovely whitewashed church, with a white dome, proudly standing at the tip of the port. It has extremely simple architecture, with spare, linear lines. In its tiny interior, the church houses beautiful golden icons and various valuable items as well as fine wall paintings.
You may watch my high resolution photos of the Church of Agios Nikolaos on Google Earth according to the following coordinates 37º 44' 43.45" N 23º 25' 28.44" E or on my Google Earth Panoramio Aegina Port Church.
Aegina

The end of the one day trip took me to the wonderful island of Aegina. 17 miles South of Pireaus, Aegina is the largest and most important island in the Saronic Gulf, inhabited since the second millenium B.C. Aegina has a very pistachio groves, on which is based its economy. In the port there is a typical fish market and very colourfull floating fruit and vegetable market.
