Aegina Island
by Lilasel
Aegina lies almost in the center of the Saronic islands and is the closest island to Athens with the exception of Salamina, just a few miles away.
There are many reasons that made Aegina a popular holiday destination. The beautiful Aegina town, beautiful beaches, traditional architecture, picturesque villages like Agia Marina and Perdika and of course the sanctuary of Aphaia and the famous church of Agios Nektarios next to Paleohora.

Kolonna
by suvanki
Kolonna or column is part of this ancient site, to the left of the harbour.
I'm not entirely sure of it's origins etc, but will endeavour to find out!
I've found out that it's open Tues to Sun from 08.30 -1500 and costs 3 euros for adults to enter.
Afraid that I didn't get to visit- as the rain didn't stop until the site had closed, but it was easily visible on arriving/departing Aegina.
April in Aegina - A Cycling Day
by Delia_Madalina
"Two quiet days and a few cycling hours"
Aegina was not in our plans when we left Romania, but as Athens was quiet around Easter time, we decided to take a one day trip (which later transformed in two) to this picturesque little island.
Cycling was the highlight of our stay - from the main harbor to a little port.
"Coquette small vilas"
We didn't search for a hotel, we stopped at a small vila owned by a Romanian family somewhere close to the port. I loved the flowers at the wiondows and balconies!

"Aigina island"
Aigina is a small island in the middle of the Saronic gulf and just a breath from Athens and Peireas port.)45 min by dolphins, and 1,5 hour by ferry. Very popular to Athenians for the weekends as it offers many things to see, or just for enjoying a coffee near the sea.
