We housed our group of 15 here for three weeks. The operators were generous, friendly and handled our large group quite professionally.
Unique Quality: I looked forward to breakfast each morning, plenty of seating for those in our group.

Hi. I'm planning to run the athens classic marathon in November. The finish is at the old olympic stadium (Panathinaiko stadium.) Would anyone here recommend any nearby hotels (within walking distance to stadium) that are in a safe neighborhood (near plaka/acropolis?) I'm looking for class A-B hotels.
Has anyone ever stayed in AVA Hotel? Are the Philippos/Herodion hotels near the stadium? Budget would be between 100-160 euros per night (for 4 people/quad) room. Is Achilleas hotel nearby?

all Athens is safe in comparison to any other city around the world
That does not mean do not take normal precautions- it means relax to enjoy
Hotel Amalia http://www.amalia.gr/athens/home.htm is just across the Zapeion - 5 minutes walk from the Stadium
Ava, Achilleas and Plaka are 10 min walk and they are good places
Hi Joe. I can recommend you AVA Hotel. AVA is situated in plaka and has a great view of the acropolis. Plaka is a very safe neigborhood. It's 10 minutes walk from the Panathinaikon Stadium. Good Luck!
