Special thanks to Rania at Acropolis Select

We loved the hotel !
The room was just fine, the location perficet and the staff exceptional! We arrived very early and knew that the room would be available later - but they gave us coffee in the lobby and 20 minutes later the room was ready. Same as when we left at a very later hour. We recommend highly!
No room after confirmation, poor staff attutide
by TripAdvisor Member aqavenue
I must say that actually we didn't have the chance to stay in the hotel.
We confirmed and paid the hotel room over the internet before our trip (specifically saying late check-in). Our flight arrived in Athens late at night. With our heavy luggages, we finally managed to reach the hotel at about 11 pm, very tired. After reaching the hotel, the first bad news came. They said that one of the hotel guests did not check out hence they have no room available for us. He referred us to another hotel, saying that it is very near to Acropolis Select and is supposed to be a higher grade hotel. The second bad news is that the second hotel is actually quite far away from Acropolis Select and is definitely NOT a higher rating hotel. We call back to Acropolis Select and the staff says that it was late at night and there was nothing that he can do. After coming back from the trip, we even find out that the internet rate for the second hotel is even lower than Acropolis Select! We consider this as dishonesty as we paid at a higher price for Acropolis Select and they referred us to a lower price hotel without any refund of the charge difference.
Bait and Switch Scam

We also experienced the "no room available" scam with this hotel. We had been there at the beginning of our trip to Greece and really liked the place. But when we arrived at the end of our trip we learned that although we were holding a confirmation letter stating we had a room for two nights, it was a "mistake" and it was really for another hotel. The staff was not helpful. We had to pay for a cab to take us to another hotel far from the Acropolis Select. Since we chose this hotel because of the great location we were upset at the change in location. Then we arrived at the "comparable" hotel and found it was a DUMP. Wall paper was peeling off the walls, our room had only a shower, the toilet wouldn't flush and the electricity went out. We only stayed one night...found a much better hotel on our own and lost the money for the second night.
Beware all travelers--even if you have confirmation of a reservation at the Acropolis Select, you may not actually have a room. Enough travelers on this site have experienced this to make it seem a deliberate pattern.
Good enough hotel at a reasonable price
by TripAdvisor Member RobynR
My husband and I stayed at The Acropolis Select for 2 nights in July. We soon realised that the outside of the hotel and the street and surrounding buildings do not do it justice. The lobby area is quite modern, the staff more than helpful and friendly, our room was spacious, perfectly clean and more than adequate for our requirements. We had a balcony over looking the street and at no time had any trouble with excess noise. It was very hot in July so the excellent airconditioning was very much appreciated.
The hotel's location is definitely a huge bonus being close to The Acropolis and The Plaka without paying top prices. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it for it's location, cleanliness and price.
Very poor hotel
by A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the hotel for three nights, the room was too small, the carpet of the floor was so old and bad in a way that cause an asthma seizure for me. The sole advantage is its location beside the Acroplis.
I wouldn't recommend it for anyone.
Convenience versus Ratings
by TripAdvisor Member Stevenrma
This was our first hotel for the first two nights of a 14 day trip though Greece. It was also the return hotel on the 13th night of our Rick Steves tour. So in total we stayed here for 3 nights. All I can say about this hotel is is that you would want to stay here if you want to be close to the Acropolis and the new and upcoming Acropolis Museaum. The hotel is only about a 10 minute walk to the Acropolis and the Plaka(shopping & eating district). They are also very close to two metro stops - Syngrou Fix is the closest. The rooms we had were clean. I did find a hair or two in the bathroom. True the hotel rooms need some improvement but overall it is tollerable. I am sure there are better hotels for a higher price but seriously how long will you be in your room versus sightseeing, shopping and eating. I felt very safe at this hotel and would recommed it to anyone that has a tollerance for convenience & location over hotel star ratings and a stray hair or two in the bathroom. The bed was clean, the shower was hot, there is a fantastic breakfast included in the rate and a classic "beam me up scotty" elevator!!! Go, have fun, relax, and return!!!

First time in Athens - did lots of research to determine we wanted to be in or near the Plaka area. Because we booked our holiday a bit late, all hotels in Plaka were booked. We stayed here 4 nights - loved it! Location: easy walking distance (or stumbling after too much ouzo) from Plaka to hotel. Plaka has tons of shops and restaurants - all with terrific service! For two single women from the U.S., we felt very safe in this area. As an added bonus, the Greek men were ever-so-accommodating (appropriately); they made us feel very welcomed and special in their country. Loved the attention! Easy access to the Acropolis. Hotel provided us with great information and booked a tour for us to Delphi (if you have time - go!). The room was small, but very clean and met all needs. I would definitely recommend this hotel to those who want to be close to the actioin but not pay a lot of money.

If location is important than you should not doubt and book your room in the Adrian Hotel. It is right in the middle of Plaka and very close to the moste important tourist sites. On top, the Adrian is quite a good hotel with very helpful and friendly service. The rooms are spacious and clean. You'll go there again.
Have fun in Athens

Our first choice was adrian only. But no website is providing any information about our 11 year old daughter accomodation.
Acropolis is giving 75% disount on her which is quite reasonable.(but it seems its not as centrally located as Adrian)
Shall we book a room for two adults at adrian and not mention abt our kid.
I hope the hotel staff wont create a fuss at the reception.
wht is the general norm in Greece regarding 11 year old child accomodation.
We r facing the same problem in mykonos hotel booking also.
Any suggestion will be most welcome.

I'm afraid you will have to book a triple room. If your daughter would have been a baby, a cod could have been put in a double room. However, she is older so she is counted as an extra guest. If you calculate the difference between a double and a triple room at the Adrian Hotel, you'll see you are not paying that much more for your daughter. Of course, the room price also includes breakfast for all three.
You can find more information on the Adrian hote here: http://www.athensinfoguide.com/hotels.htm

If you want my opinion none of the above.Due that they are located near acropolis or plaka you will get a higher pricce that any other hotel located in the center of Athens
Have you concendered going to a cheaper hotel in the heart of Athens and visit this areas so that you will lower your budget and maybe take a tour by night or day tour in Argolida or Cruise to greek saronic islands??
I have heard that Hotel Moka is quiet good. Many of my friends have stayed there and we very pleased.
