The Adonis hotel was reasonably priced, and the location cannot be beat. Smack dab in the middle of the lovely Plaka neighbourhood under the acropolis, it is nearby plenty of great restaurants, shopping, the subway, and best of all is on a quiet street!
Unique Quality: Book well in Advance! Even in off-season, this hotel is often full, for obvious reasons.
Please give me feedback re this hotel as we're going to Athens in Sept. Much appreciated.
I have to say in my experience the Greek Islands boat companies do not appear to specialise in snorkelling trips. I haven't been to Santorini but I understand its very commercialised. The islanders however will be looking for you to frequent their restaurants.! I have only been on fairly mundane boat 'trips' (dodecanese islands ) out to other islands or caves etc but snorkelling is not a main part of the trip.
I love the Greek Islands but not for snorkelling
I think Nada.... has replied to a wrong question because there is another question about snorkling in greece as well.
About Adonis hotel:
I went to there to stay last year and i was deserted in November. I felt a little bit insecure and i left at once. Now i do not know how is the situation there.
U Durrani from Pakistan.
Thanks for your reply but, what do you mean by "deserted"? Please explain.
Dear Sarnay !
When i arrived at the hotel it was 10 or 11 p.m. There was not a single light open. I knocked on the door and ranged that bell. then one man came out and he was the receptionist and the owner. We asked the price and he wanted to show the rooms as well but i was feeling comfortable because according to my experience a tourist should never stay in an empty hotel. so, i said thanks to him and left at once.
May be there are more than one Adonis hotels in Plaka. Please give me the address of the Adonis hotel u are refereing to and i will tell you if its the same one i visited during my cheap hotel search in Athens.
Pakistaiguy, it's on Kodrou St.
This area is near the ancient city centre, so it is very populated on holiday season. But it is dead in November especially at night, as there is a market place and very few houses.
You will have no problem in September, it's a lively place.
Also I walk around Athens center any time of day/night, no problem with that.
