Hotel Argo is a combined hotel/hostel and located in the hotel area near Omonia square.
it´s a simple little place with basic but ok rooms and the reception staff was very friendly and talkative when i was there.
There is a nice common area by the reception with a tv and hotel argo is really a nice place to stay if you are on a budget.
Unique Quality: Friendly and near the station.
Directions: between omonia square and the train station.
we rented a four bed dorm, for me, my little boy and a friend, which cost about 6000DR. I think the manager liked us and knocked a bit off the price.as a bed in a 4 bed dorm cost around 2000DR
5500dr for a private double with a bathroom, less for one with shared bathroom
Unique Quality: There is a bar and a breakfast room here, and a washing machine. Our room had a small balcony with a tiny (dodgy) spiral staircase that led down past other rooms to a dangling deadend, and up to a large flat concrete roof, with a half decent view. We tied a makeshift line up and any washing we did was dry in half an hour.
It was obviously unusual to see backpackers with kids and we were treated as special guests. ( when I arrived there to meet my friend the first day a young lad was sent off to get me some hot tea and a sweet pastry for my kid from a nearby bakery, as the bar had nothing suitable for him and the staff were always friendly and helpful.
Directions: Victor Hugo 25, ( same street as the International Youth Hostel)
