Athens Backpacker's Hostel
Great location - a 2 minute walk to the Plaka. Nice and clean rooms with a good bar and common area downstairs. The only problem was the staff who all seemed to have started working there that day.

Athens Backpackers Hostel
I stayed two nights in Athens Backpackers hostel and foundt hat the hostle lived up to its reputation. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful, often plan day trips, and have great information to guide you along the rest of your trip. The facilities are clean and offer up a kitchen for breakfast, and a mezzine for hanging out, and medium sized lockers to store some of your valuables. The hostels location is fantastic as well, not far from the metro, walking distance from the Acropolis and shopping at Plaka street.
Every evening the bar upstairs is quite lively, and the atmosphere encourages the meeting of new people. Good times were had at Athen's Backpackers. If you are a young person this is a good choice. Book in advance as this place gets packed

Athen's Backpackers Secret
Great location, friendly hosts and staff, great environment to meet other like-minded travellers, for eg, one night a group of us who met at the lounge are decided to go on a day trip to Delphi. A couple of them had the bus time-table, another knew its history, and the rest was history. We all ahd a great time.
Unique Quality: Hostel is near everywhere, and has a magnificent view of the illuminated Acropolis at night. As stone-throw away from Filoppapos Hill, where u can get nice pics of the Acropolis.
Highly recommended for those on a budget trip to Greece.

Best Hostel in Athens
We really enjoyed our stay at this hostel. We met so many different people. The only complaint we had was that the a/c was not working in the room we stayed in the first night. The next day we talked to the front desk and they moved us to another room. We were fine after that.
Unique Quality: You can see the Parthenon from the rooftop. They have a bar on the roof, and they have parties there every night where you can socialize with other people staying at the hostel. It's a great place to talk about things to do while you are in Greece. The roof closes early due to the hostel being in a residential area, but they will take anyone who is interested to a bar or club to continue the party.

World Cup in Greece
Athens Backpackers is a relatively new hostel run by young Austrailians and Brits. The rooms are clean, but a little small for six people. The common areas had been turned into places where everyone could watch the World Cup games. I had a great time enjoying a sport that is pretty much forgotten in the states. You could definately tell who was European and Austrailian and who was from the US. Great location; right near the Acropolis and the Plaka. Helpful staff and a great rooftop bar. A little pricy for a hostel however. Overall, a great place for backpackers to enjoy Athens.
Unique Quality: They offer guided tours to daytrip places such as Delphi. The tours are really inexpensive, but not that informative.

This is probably the newest backpackers hostel in Athens and one of the best located, just 100 metres from the Dionisiou Areopagitou street, the south slope of the Acropolis.
Is run by some young fellows that offer a bed in a dorm with A/C and breakfast for 25 euros (at least in august, though it says 18 in the web page). Not VERY cheap but a good deal for what they offer, as the place is brand new and everythings works properly.
Unique Quality: Is much quieter than the Student's and travelers Inn (located in the heart of Plaka).
Nice vew of Acropolis from the roof terrace.

Which one is better the Athens Backpackers or Student and Travellers Inn hostels?
Hello!
I am planning my two night stay in Athens and was wondering which one of these two hostels are better for me to stay: the Athens Backpackers or Student and Travellers Inn? They are both in or near Plaka but seems that the Athens Backpackers has betters reviews in hostelworld.com. Which one do you recommend and why?

From what I can see the backpackers one is probably better but it's also more expensive- double the price
