Beautiful flowers, beautiful Spring!
by Sharrie
Now, a friend already asked... is Athens beautiful?
Really, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Cliche? Perhaps! But, I've also come to realise that one can find beauty in chaos. On the other hand, even in the most beautiful cities, there are ugly sides to them... if you intend to look for them. See the beautiful sides & register those images & our lives would be better with these. Not forgetting... without darkness, one will never know light! :-)
Why Visit Athens and the Acropolis!
by greekcypriot
It’s on all those annoying lists of ‘places you must see before you die’ but the city’s centrepiece, the Parthenon, and the Acropolis, the rocky hill on which it stands, really do live up to the hype. It’s more impressive than ever now that most of the scaffolding has come down and a massive restoration project launched in 1983 is finally nearing completion. The architectural skills of the ancient Greeks provide a stark contrast to the concrete jungle creeping up the foothills of the Acropolis. This clash between ancient and modern is a fitting symbol of a city that is ever changing, yet always timeless.
The Runner
by Lilasel
It sounds like a symbol of modern Athens for me! "Glass Runner" is located next to the Hilton Hotel and National Art Gallery. Made by Greek artist Varotsos he is always on his way to the center of the city...
Neighborhood Tip 3: Gazi
by WillAntoniou
Gazi is probably my favorite neighborhood for fun in Athens. Recently it has become more of a gay and lesbian area, but there are still a lot of other great clubs. It's nice because it's not as crowded as Psyrri is and I think the clubs are generally nicer.
Check it out, you will definitely find something you like. There aren't so many like big dance clubs, but nice chill lounges for good music and nice music. Rooftop clubs with big video screens and good music.
