Plaka Athens
by windoweb
Starting at the foot of the Acropolis, the old area of Plaka is a maze of narrow, cobble-stoned, medieval streets that twist through ancient sites, tourist-packed squares and lovely Byzantine courtyards. The best way to explore it is simply to get lost among its enchanting passages. The most beautiful section of Plaka is Anafiotika, a cluster of Cycladic-island-style houses at the very base of the Acropolis.

The Greek Parliament
by Aggeliki
The plain, neoclassical buildiing which is the Parliament of the Greeks today, was between 1834 - 1838 as the palace of the first kings. In front of the bulilding is the monument of the Unknown soldier, with the two guards, called "Evzoni" who are the presidential guards.
Temple of Zeus with the Acropolis in background
by Kodi01
This is the Temple of Zeus with the Acopolis sitting in the distance. This location has a lot to offer. Arches and temples and Roman baths remains......
You can see stones with numbers on them which date so long ago. I stayed there for hours just trying to let the history sink in.
There was a location where they were excavating more ruins..........so I just watched them trying to be a part of it all....
