This is one of the best hotel's in Athens. Currently under renovation for the olympic Games. If you do have the $$cash$$ it is the best place to stay, which is smack bang in the centre of it all, next to Syntagma Square

This is exactly what a 5* hotel should be. Newly renovated & right at Syntagma Square. Nothing to complain about this hotel. Service is first class & location is excellent. Pricing is exorbitant! As far as I'm concerned, a US$600 rack rate (or alternatively, US$300 for internet deal) is not the way to live! Was lucky to get a free night stay from my SPG awards (10,000 points for those who are on the plan).
The bed is the most comfortable of all the hotels I stayed in Greece! But for US$600, I could buy a great bed & sleep on it for 10 years, haha!

My husband and I were only in Greece for the weekend so we splurged on this hotel. It was late November so there were Christmas decorations, parades and so much activity and eye candy! The hotel was very nice, lovely marble bathrooms and nice sized rooms.
The hotel decor had such rich taste. The location of it was great too. We walked from our hotel to the parthenon and the ruins. I was sad we were only there for one weekend!

A landmark in Syntagma Square and situated opposite the Greek Parliament and the National Gardens. A bit old fashioned when I visited but still a magnificent hotel at a great location.
For Nearly 130 Years, the Hotel Grande Bretagne has played host to countless heads of state and international celebrities. Take a greek coffee in one of its many bars.
Right now is being restored for the 2004 Olympic Games.

The 'Grande Brettagne' Hotel.
The 'Grande Brettagne' Hotel is intimately connected to the history of modern Athens. This historic hotel was built in 1852.It's the most luxurious hotel in town.If your budget doesn't respond to that it's worth visiting just for a coffee.Note that this period it is closed as a 67 million Euro refurbishment and renovation program is on process.Yet,it shall re-open end of February 2003.
Exquisite, like a palace. Rooms very comfortable, and staff very attentive to your every need. Well located across the street from their seat of government. Cabs at the curb will take you all over the city for a reasonable fare. Food was exceptional. Bathrooms were like a trip back in time, but very adequate. The tub was huge, the sinks were ca 1920, but magnificent. Large windows with beautiful views.
The first night in Athens we stayed at the Grand Bretagne and its defenitly worth every penny. Its a wonderful hotel with very ornate re-furbishing in all the rooms. Almost impeccable service.
I say this because my wife was sick with a stomach virus. They went out of the way to get a doctor. Anything that I asked for, like extra ice, thermometer and the doctor prescribed medicines were rushed the the room as quick as possible.
This is definitly one of the best room service I have experience at any 5 star hotel. A really wonderful hotel and extreemly helpful staff who go out of the way to serve you.
Excellent personalized customer service from the staff. Impeccable service.
