Stayed here during the Olympic Games in 2004, and even though it was a kind of permanent emergency situation, it was still a nice hotel and had good services. Holiday Inn is well-known and doesn't really need much detailed explanation.
Unique Quality: A bit of a walk outside the Plaka area, but still walkable.
The 5 stars Crowne Plaza Athens Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Athens Hotel) is found in the heart of the business and commercial centre of Athens. The elegant architectural design of the hotel, in combination with the friendly service and the high quality comforts, guarantees a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Very close to the historical center of Athens, just 10 min. from the Acropolis, the traditional area of Plaka (old town), and Syntagma (Constitution) Square, and most importantly just 5 min. walking distance from the Metro Station "Megaron Mousikis", attracting both business and leisure travellers
The Holiday Inn Athens is perfect if you are just planning on sleeping in the room and want to bank a few priority club miles along the way. Otherwise, you may want to spend your hard-earned cash on a better hotel. For the money, it was not a great value. The worst part was the fact that the air conditioning, which the staff advised us was centrally controlled, was set rather high. Not a big deal, unless it's 95F and you just want to cool off.
Unique Quality: Decent room service, though a bit pricey, was tasty and delivered quickly. The lobby is five-star, comfy, roomy, and inviting. But that all falls away as you enter the old elevators, and walk the halls (with disturbingly large room numbers on the walls) and into the 1970s era rooms.
Directions: Downtown, near the Metro Megaro Moussikis Station.
Stayed for 3 nights with my family of 4 July 2007. We had a family room and paid € 169 pr night, breakfeast included.
The hotel look really nice from the outside, in the reception area and in the restaurtants. The rooms need to refurbished. The beds are old and well used, the aircon does not work too well on really hot days. The rooms are spacious enough for sleeping,.
The roof pool gives you the possibilities to relax and calm down. The breakfast was exellent.
It's a hotel to concider if you want something central and are willing to pay the price.
Unique Quality: The breakfast and the location is what can make this hotel well worth the price.
Directions: 200 m from Metro station Megaru Mousikis
One week there for a business trip. There is a pool and a fitness place. Nice to do fitness, no that much people do. But the pool closes at 6PM - that is very early, and sometimes even earlier without reasons. I got a very low standard room for 120€, the door was hitting the bath when entering the barthroom - Ok I got a bottle of wine when I entered the room, but for the rest, it is TOO expansive.
Unique Quality: Fitness room with viewtop and nice terrasse.
The Athens Holiday Inn is located very close to the city centre, only 10 minutes from Acropolis, the Plaka and the Syntagma square. Ideal for both business and leisure travelers. Being outside the restricted traffic zone, provides parking facilities.
Unique Quality: 188 luxurious rooms, 3 suites, equipped with air-conditioning, mini bar, safe, voice-mail, satellite and pay TV, modem line. 15 renovated halls, suitable for professional and social gatherings and events. 2 main restaurants, cafes and a nice roof garden right next to the swimming pool.
