I loved my stay at Dioskouros Guesthouse and would recommend it to anyone. The location is a quiet part of Plaka and very convenient to all the major sites.
The staff was very helpful and friendly. In fact, the manager Strattos ran out every afternoon to get dresh watermelon and cherries for the guests. We would all congregate in the kitchen area and socialize. I sat and talked with Strattos in the ktichen for a long while on my last night there.
I stay in a double room with a sink and shared bathroom facilities. I never had a problem getting access to the bathroom and the water was hot and the room clean.
Most rooms have air conditioning but you have to ask for it to be turned on and it will cost you a little extra. My room did not have air conditioning but Strattos provided me with a fan and I was never uncomfortable -- and I was there in July! With the fan and the window open, the temperature was fine.
Unique Quality: My room had an amazing veiw of the Acropolis -- especially at night. I had a corner room and I would open both windows (which were huge) and sleep soundly and wake up to the sun streaming in my room.
Does anyone ever heard about the Dioskuros hostel in Athens? I heard that it is a few blocks from the Student and Travelers Inn. I have also heard that it is near New York State University.
Anyway, i cannot find this place and a google search turned up only one comment which said that a twin room with a small fridge, free continental breakfast, and a view of the Acropolis costs about 20 Euros per person.
If this place exists, can you please give the address, telephone, email, web address etc.
Thank you in advance

It's called the Dioskouros Guesthouse, at 6 Pittakou Street. Do a search on it for more information
Hope that was some help.
