A great modern hotel.
We did enjoy our stay at Metropolitan Hotel. The hotel is very clean, modern and not far from the city center.
The check-in was incredibly fast, it only took few minutes. The rooms are very clean and the hotel offers free shuttle bus to the center which was very reliable.
Getting there from the airport was easy and getting to the center was also very convenient.
Highly recommended for someone who wants a luxurious hotel at affordable prices.
I liked the exterior design very much as well.
Unique Quality: It has a very small pool but we didn't have time to waste in Athens.

Budget Hotel in Athens
Note that this is not the luxury hotel Metropolitan, which is at the opposite end of the spectrum!
This hotel has a good location (right on Mitropoleos St., across from the Cathedral, one block from Ermou, and close to Syntagma). However, Mitropoleos is a loud and icky street. The view is an office building across the street. The service was fine, didn't ask them to do anything for me, really. Amenities are lacking. The rooms are minute and the bathroom facilities are disappointing. The toilet in particular in the single en-suite room I had was a bit scary (leaked a lot of water). However, it's one of the cheapest places to stay in Syntagma.
I stayed there before the Olympics so it may have been renovated since!
