Escape from the typical

A good place to stay, in Exarchia, not in the crowded center. The rooms are quite comfortable and the staff is very professional.

Very nice with free wifi!!!

We stayed here on two differern occassions during a recent trip.
Our first stay was in the older part of the building, in a very small room. The shower in this room had the horrible problem of the shower curtain not reaching the base of the shower frame, thus there was a 4-6 inch gap that allowed water to go wherever it pleased in teh bathroom.
Our second stay was in the newer part of the hotel in a larger room. The bathroom in this room was very modern and accomodating. The shower situation was much better, as it was an enclosed shower.
I couldn't find any English speaking channels on the tv, but the wifi was free!!!!!!
Its a little bit of a walk to the closest metro station, and I wouldn't recommend it with luggage!
A decent taxi ride to/from the airport shouldn't cost more than about 30Euro, so beware if your driver tries to charge you more! (ours did!)

Unique Quality: Free wifi!!!!

All good... except for bugs

Booked a single with a king size bed but was given a twin instead. When asked why, was told that the single room is smaller and without balcony. Checked both and indeed the twin room seemed better. Still would've preferred if they actually gave me exactly what I wanted.

Everything was fine... until a cockroach dropped onto my shoulder before scampering away. It's not a perfect world and roaches may exist in hotels-- but they must be like chidlren in the old-fashioned days: never seen or heard, much less interact with the guests. NOT a good way to wrap up stay. If hygiene is important for you, like me, then another hotel might be better.

Also quite a walk from the nearest metro station (Omonia). Can walk to base of Acropolis in about 20 minutes.

After seeing the Plaka area, I now see why some VTers recommended staying in that area. It really is the way to spend your holiday-- in the idyllic quarters of the city just at the base of the Acropolis! Try it yourself! (I hear Central Hotel there is a good bet)

Unique Quality: Has one computer with free Net access. That was also the spot where the roach dropped by for a visit.

Also next to the National Archaeological Museum.

Good location, fair quality

The hotel is quite centrally located, just behind the Archaeological Museum, though not right next to a metro station. It looks and smells new, very clean and fairly comfortable. The rooms are not really fancy but have all you'll need for a couple of night's stay. In fact, they've overdone it on technology - we counted 5-6 phone sockets in a junior suite. The staff is pretty helpful too, so in case something is broken in your room or bathroom, don't hesitate to let them know, they'll do their best to help.

Unique Quality: Nothing unique, really, just a very good value for money.

More about Museum Hotel Athens

A great substitute.....

by Maryimelda about Best Western Museum Hotel

We were originally booked into the Best Western Pythagorian. On our arrival, we were advised that two floors of accomodation had to be closed that day due to a burst water pipe. Subsequently we were relocated to the Best Western Museum for the same price. (55 euro a single room including breakfast). We were transported by taxi at the expense of Best Western and were welcomed at the door of the Best Western Museum with many more apolgies for the inconvenience we had been put through. Whilst we were checking in, a staff member brought us a glass of fruit juice. The desk clerk was happy to direct us anywhere we wanted to go with full details on buses, taxis, prices etc and his opinion of what things were better value than others. He also recommended a wonderful restaurant nearby called Rosario. I can't recall any further detail than that only that it was very good, very cheap and not far from the hotel. The rooms were extremely nice for the price and our only complaint was that the location was a little further away from the Plaka than we wanted to be. No matter, we were very comfortable and were treated so nicely that we forgave all. I would certainly recommend the the BW Musem Hotel and the reception and welcome we received at the BW Pythagorian was so good that I would be quite positive in recommending it also.

Actually, it is between Omonia and Victoria Stations.

Choose Victoria Station, it is closer!
