Park Hotel Athens: great starting point when visiting Athens

With my husband we have stayed twice in this hotel as we both enjoy it so much.
It is conveniently very close to the heart of Athens: only in walking distance from Omonoia Square. It is close to he metro(underground). It is located next to the Archaological Museum. Opposite the front side of the hotel, you can take the bus for a trip to Sounion, which is highly recommended.
It is a luxurious hptel without being kitch. And as a true Athenian Hotel it has a greek character. The service is superior and everyone is very helpful, showing waht greek hospitability can be at its best. They can organise for you anything you want, even a short trip to an island that you have just decided you'd like to visit: they can undertake research and booking on your behalf. I could not possibly recommend it more.
If you ask for a front view you can get the wonderful view of the Areos Park ( one of the rare green areas of the centre of Athens, just across the front of the Hotel). If you go during summer than I recommend to dine on the terrace where you get a lovely view of the Acropolis and Lycabetus Hill. If you travel with children, you have babysitting available and for teenagers you have video games if you want to wander in the hotel and leave them in the room. All rooms have extremely safe doors and in general this hotel takes safety meaures very seriously indeed. The hotel was recently refurbished and it is fantastic! And I like their breakfast bar with a wide selection for all types of regimes.(you have to pay aditionally for this though: but you are worth it)
Incredibly warm, English-speaking staff, willing to chat for those who want to try their Greek... rooftop pool with views of the Acropolis, and very helpful concierge service
Park Hotel Athens: Average Hotel in a average pat of town.

THE PARK HOTEL – ATHENS.
On arrival we where told our room was on the 4th floor when we had asked for the 7th floor on booking two months prior. After complaining that our booking was not correct they gave us a room on the 7th floor. The room (714) was spacious with a queen size bed, small couch with a coffee table and chair. A mini bar, Internet connection, coffee and tea facility, ironing board, safe, hairdryer was also supplied. The bathroom was ordinary with a shower above the bath which constantly flooded. The best thing about this room was the balcony which was enormous and has the most incredible view of the Acropolis and at night time it was amazing.
This hotel really is just a 4 star boarding on a 3 star. My husband attended at conference here and said the facilities were good but he did mention that he saw other member’s rooms and said they were tiny …nothing like ours. He decided we must have got the suite and thanked me endlessly for doing my research on what room would suit us.
There are three restaurants in the hotel and both are excellent. The lobby café is great for a coffee and a quick snack or lunch. The fine dining on the 8th floor is fantastic with an awesome view of the Acropolis and Athens, the food and service is also excellent. The breakfast room is again impressive with a good selection of European and English food.
There is a swimming pool on the 8th floor but was under renovation whilst we were here.
PROS: Our room was fabulous for the view although tried and boring in need of redecoration it suited us completely. The Metro station is a short stroll away and easy to find. The 8th floor restaurant is excellent with the most spectacular views.
CONS: Rooms need to be updated. Area not really handy a long stroll into town approx 20 – 30 mins but metro close. Bathroom flooded and needs update.
Recommendation: For a conference or if you can get the 7th floor.
