Nice Hotel Near Metro

The Pella Inn was recommended to me in Rome, so I wrote it down and luckily rememebred that I had before I got to Athens. (This was during my Ibiza recovery week, so I was lucky to remember anything)

It is about 2 blocks from the Monastiraki Station in the heart of Plaka. Beds are clean, rooms are small, but sufficient. The selling point about this place was its terrace which gives a wonderful view over to the Acropolis in the morning and evening light.

This is a step up for hostelers, and a drop down for middle-class travelers. So, I say, chose where you want to spend your money... on cool stuff in Athens or on a room you only sleep in for a few hours?

A Nice Friendly Place

by HailVibrainia about Pella Inn

A quirky-in-a-neat way place; both hostel and hotel. Managed by VERY friendly people. We had an incredible view (night view is the picture I've attached).
As a hostel/hotel, it is in the 1 star cataegory, so expect some chipped tile and flaking paint. But it's clean.
Exceedingly convenient to the airport: get on the Metro and get off at Monastiraki, walk a couple blocks. The old town is great and funky; crowded streets, full of life. Great restuarants nearby.
The rooms (we had two) were plain, neat and clean. The first had two twin beds, the second a single double bed. Private bathrooms in each for 50 euro per night. While we were out hiking the Acropolis, two women came who wanted a double with two twin beds, so the hotel moved all of our stuff to another room. And they put everything - everything - exactly how we had it. The top of the shaving cream was not on, it was off, on the shelf, in the same spot, just a different room.Toothbrushes at the same angle. Book on the nightstand at the same angle - just a different room. Kinda eery. But they were so nice about it.
On our last day we left our luggage and went to the Sunday street market.
The elevator is one-person and one suitcase at a time, so we hiked the stairs. If you don't like stairs...think about it. But if you are going to hike up to and all over the summit to see the Acropolis (which we could almost touch from the balcony of our room or the rooftop terrace) what's a few flights of stairs? We intend to stay here again next year. The view is unbelievable. The location is great if you like the older funky part of town.
