Plaka Hotel--was not that bad at all

My friend booked the hotel for all of us through gtahotels.com. I found it not that bad at all at that reasonale price. The room is quite comforting. (We're not talking about romance here.) The breakfast was great!!!! Go for sausages, croisants, fresh oranges and greek yoghurt. Try the roof top for view of city and Acropolis. It's lovely to have a bottle of wine (or more). 555
It's so close to Acropolis and some nice restaurants. The bad part is only if you're not very good at handling noise of a bit of traffic in the morning. (I'm a deep sleeper after a few glasses!!)

Plaka Hotel, Excellent location in Athens

This hotel's best quality is the location. It's very close to many attractions inside Athens. Near to traing station. 15-20 minute walk to Parthenon. Walking distannce to great nightlife in Psiri neighborhood. The room was fine, the breakfast was acceptable, hotel was clean, staff was helpful, but not overly freindly. Hotel area was safe, even late at night. People eat out very late, so there's a lot of pedestrian traffic until the wee hours, specially on Friday/Saturday.
The price per night is acceptable, considering, this is one of Europe's capital cities. Nothing cheap in this city. Again, the Hotel's location is unbeatable.

Unique Quality: Hotel is close to many attractions, restaurants, nightlife, tourist spots and transportation. There is a nice outdoor bar on the roof, with fantastic views of Athens.

Great Location

This hotel had a great location. It was right by the Plaka, which means it is near shopping and restaurants. It is close the the Monstraki subway stop, too! It was walking distance to the Acropolis as well! It was clean and they had a room for us to store our bags after we checked out so we could sightsee. It was a little more expensive than I would have liked but you are paying for location.

Unique Quality: They have a great rooftop bar with an incredible view of the Acropolis day and night.

Plaka

Seems to be a popular hotel amongst VTers. Again, I didn't stay here but walked past it while on my way to Plaka. Room rates are much more expensive than Hotel Arethusa. The summer rate is around Euro 110 - 150.

More about Plaka Hotel

Great Location in Plaka!

by bebegringa26 about Hotel Phaedra

I didn't stay here but stayed a block away. On my last night I went to the Hotel Phaedra and felt very welcomed. The hotel's lobby was very modern. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The lobby also had wi-fi. It is located at the quiet end of the Plaka district just up a narrow street facing the church of Agia Ekaterini, and a couple of blocks from the entrance to the Acropolis. Two blocks from Acropolis Metro station. The price is very good! Perfect Location! Great Price!

small but modern rooms in a great location plus breakfast with view

by TripAdvisor Member Vicman

A tip from a Greek-Canadian friend brought us to the Hotel Plaka. We told him we wanted a reasonably priced room in the heart of ancient Athens close to restaurants, shop and attractions including the Acropolis. His reply was almost instant. "Hotel Plaka"

The hotel is modern in style, in sharp contrast to the city surrounding it. A wonderful rooftop seating area with bar service has an unimpeded view of the Acropolis. The breakfasts that we enjoyed was another pleasant surprise. Better than most.

The only drawbacks to the Hotel Plaka were the small room size and the absolutely miniscule shower facility.

Perfectly Placed Small Hotel In Athens

by TripAdvisor Member expat17ksauk

This is the second time we have stayed at the Hotel Plaka, and as last time found the hotel staff to be helpful and friendly. The hotel's location is very good, being roughly half was between Monastiraki Square and Syntagma Square, literally a stone's throw from the Ermou shopping area, The Athens equivalent of Oxford Street.

The two rooms we have stayed in so far have been of a medium size, with usually a shower room. Breakfast is of the continental style and overall the Hotel is a very good 3 or 4 star (depending which on system you use) establishment. What puts the icing on the cake, though, are the views from the south facing rooms. There is a clear view of the Acropolis, which in the summer, when the roof terrace is open, forms part of a 360 degree panorama. On a clear evening, as the sun sinks below the western hills, and the Acropolis illlumination system fades into effect, the vistas are nothing short of breathtaking.

When we pass through Athens again we will definitely stay at the Hotel Plaka again

Airport to Plaka Hotel then onto Anavyssos Beach

by topgunn

I arrive in Athens next Monday and require directions. What is the easiest way to get from the airport to the Plaka Hotel, 7 Kapnikareas Athens, using public transport and avoiding taxis.
Also, the following day I need to go from the Plaka hotel to the Plaza resort, Anavyssos Beach some 50-odd km away. How can I get there, also avoiding taxis.

If the Blue Line Metro is running take it to the Monastiraki Metro Station for 6 euro and you'll be a block from the hotel. Or if the Metro is not running you can take the Suburban train from the airport to the Neratziotissa Station and then the Green Line Metro train to the Monastiraki Station for about 8 euro total. Or you can take the Airport Express Bus #95 from outside Exit/Entry door 5 at the airport to the end of the line, Syntagma Square for 3.2 euro, then walk down Mitropoleos Street about 1/3 mile to Kapnikareas Street and turn left. You're there.

Thanks for that, sounds like the Metro or Airport shuttle is the way to go, cheers

Airport-Plaka: Bus 95, and after that 10 minutes walk.
From Plaka hotel to Anavyssos Beach:
1. Train from Monastiraki to Victoria (5 minutes).
2. From Victoria walk until Pedion Areos (again 5 minutes)and there is bus to Anavyssos every hour. From start point depends of traffic Anavyssos it's about 1:30 hour.
