Nice Room for Athens, but a bit Overpriced

I stayed there twice, once on business and the other for pleasure. Although the rooms are nice for Athens, the price was a bit on the high side.

Unique Quality: Both times when I was there, the pool was closed due to repair or remodeling of the pool area.

Athens City Stop

This hotel offers you the oportunity to be right in the middle of the city of Athens but still give the feeling of space. The food was quite enjoyable and you were offered a wide variety to choose from as it is a buffet service in the mornings unless you prefer to order to your room.

You are situated right in the city so all local amenities are tight at your finger tips. there were computers in the lobby so that guest could check emails or just surf the net for a smalll fee.
The roof top pool area is fantastic and I fee loffers one of the top view of the city with the lounge comming alive at night with the pianist and singer who knows all song and always delivers.

The rooms were well maintained and the staff were always on hand to give advise on local things to do.

Unique Quality: The most Enjoyable thing I found about the hotel was the pool area, if you had a full day sight seeing I found this area quite soothing after a very hot day. The view from this hieght also gave you a view of Athens that went right out to the coastline.

Every thing you needed was in walking distace to the hotel if you wanted to take the Athens sightseeing public bus line you only had to walk a short distance to the pickup point this bus travelled by all the sights in the city wich you can depart at each sight and get back on to the next bus which came along.

The hotel is close to many local and iternational eateries which are always open even at 2.30 in the morning. and the hotel staff will be availabe to help you at hese times also although they do not do room service after 11pm.

Nice modern hotel in residential area

The President Hotel is a modern tall building located in the Amberlokipi district of Athens along Kiffisias Avenue. It is a well-located hotel just 10 minutes walk from Amberlokipi subway station. It is very popular with business travellers and tour groups.

Unique Quality: The rooftop lounge on the 21st floor has recently been renovated. At night, you can sit up on the rooftop terrace where you have a commanding view of the whole of Athens including great views of Lycabettus Hill.

Inexpensive 4-star hotel in good area

The President Hotel is one of the few tall buildings in Athens and is located close to the Kifissias residential area. It's not located near the ancient sites but close to many shopping, dining & entertainment places.

You can get a room in this 4-star hotel for under 100€, which is a great thing if you're on a budget and looking for a good place to stay. The rate also included a full buffet of bacon, eggs, yogurt, bread, coffee & tea, to name a few.

Upon arrival, the front desk was non-too friendly or unfriendly but my check-in was quick. I also didn't get any help with my bags, probably because it was the height of the summer holidays & there were many people in the lobby to look after. My room was located on the 11th floor with a great view towards the coast, but the Acropolis view was hidden by Lycabetus Hill. Twin beds (I only used one) sat in this big room with basic amenities and the TV had a small selection of channels which constantly covered the news on the forest fires in Greece. There's a small round table & 2 chairs for guests to sit, and a huge vanity sufficient to put all your toiletries & such.

I think the walls were pretty thin because I could hear sounds from the neighbors next door. And the air conditioning was a split unit which I had to turn on everytime I enter the room. This is not good after walking outside in 45°C heat & wanting to return to a cooled room. Nevertheless, that's a small matter because overall it was fine for the rate I paid.

Unique Quality: The Roof Bar has a garden & swimming pool where you can enjoy breathtaking views of Athens and is especially fabulous at dusk. However, the pool closed quite early (between 6.00-7.30pm) so forget about taking a cooling dip after this time.

The hotel is also close to shopping malls, theaters & cafes, and I feel safe as a single female traveler to wander out since the area is mainly residential. Should you forget any essentials, Carrefour is within 5 minutes walk.

The hotel I prefer when visiting Athens

I've stayed a lot of times in this hotel and never faced a single problem. The rooms are really large, maybe the largest I've seen at a four star hotel. Furniture is general speaking good, although there are some older pieces of it in some rooms. All of its 500 rooms are air conditioned and have satellite TVs, radios, telephones, fridges and very large bathrooms. They were always clean and tidy and I think that the President Hotel is the only 4 star hotel in Athens that offers twice per day maid service. Last time I stayed there I've noticed that they added a wireless internet service.

There's a restaurant and bar at the hotel with moderate prices and good quality. There's also a roof garden with bar and a pool, which offers magnificant view to the city. The personell was helpful, although not as friendly as in other hotels I've stayed.

Generally, the hotel is very good, as it offers first class services in low for its category prices.

Unique Quality: It's worth asking for a room on top floors, as they have magnificent view to the city. If it is possible ask for a room which has view to the southern side, as it will face almost whole Athens, from the center and Acropolis till Saronic gulf.

Choose the right floor ;)

Stayed twice and the experience is mixed. First time I got a high floor and the room was nice with a great view overlooking Athens. Ok, it is not the best view to face tons of cement but i liked it i could see the sea and all these cars moving at Kifisias street. at my first visit I didn't try the breakfast ( i am not into early wake up and eating).
the personnel at the desk are not anything special in terms of service..they act like you are not an client but i admit without hassling you or anything else..
my second stay was a bit adventurous..i initially got an even better view on the 17th floor but it was a 2-bed and i wanted a twin. as it was late i had to accept a room at 2nd floor which really sucked! they should sell them for much less and not at the same price. the guy at the desk told that the room is old and not a good one but he just gave the 2 bed option which i rejected. so i had to smell this strange odour and sleep at a 2 star room in a 4 star hotel. i even tried to compromise my negative view with waking up and trying the breakfast but that was the worse..food was less than average for such a hotel and the dining place really really cold. maybe one of the most odourless spots that i took my breakfast.

here is the deal, for 80 euros for a twin you get intrigued but i'd pay some more to stay to a hotel that it worths its money. Athens seems to be an expensive city in nowadays. read my review on 2 other main hotels that i stayed recently if you like to learn more.

Unique Quality: Good to excellent view if you get there early.

We Stayed at the Hotel...

We Stayed at the Hotel President, not far from Omonia Square. Offically rated as 4*, it seems to be undergoing an ongiong refurbishment, so it is currently not 4* quality, but can be booked for a very cheap price - we payed about $50US PRPN.
$50 US PRPN

Unique Quality: Lovely rooftop pool with bar, be warned that the water is absolutely freezing. Great view over Athens too - when the smog isn't too thick.
