Hotel Armonia

Have the best of both worlds at this beautiful hotel on the Aegean Riviera, on the beach, less than an hour from the ancient sites and the center of Athens, Greece .

The Armonia Hotel is known for its superb relaxing atmosphere, which contributes to a very pleasant and memorable stay.

The whole area of Vouliagmeni is surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches, including the famous Vouliagmeni beach which has been awarded the Blue Flag for its clean waters

Astir Aphrodite in Vouliagmeni

Located a short drive outside of Glyfada and about 30-40 minutes from Athens is the Astir Aphrodite. It is a 5 star hotel and a place I would never stay at on my own. It is one of 3 hotels in the Astir group. This was part of a family trip when I was younger and was an amazing place to stay.

This hotel is unbelievable. The rooms are comfortable and clean, staff is great, food is great, I have no complaints, but I guess thats why it is a 5 star hotel.

The hotel has private beaches and pools, tennis courts, a spa, and fitness center. Rooms start at over 200 Euro for the least expensive standard room, which is why my 1st stay will most likely be my last. It was quite a big step up from my stays at the Balasca.

Unique Quality: Rooms have air conditioning, mini bar, TV with satellite, safe, internet access, 24 hr room service, and more.

A resort in the city

I came here a couple of times and visited also the other Astir Palace hotels on the penninsula for functions and meals.

If you have things to do in Athens, but want to have a taste of Greek sunshine and sea, this penninsula it the place to go. Day visits to some of the facilites is aslo possible.

The hotel rooms of the Arion and Nafsika are huge (executive floors) and open up toward the sea with a balcony that you want to bring home.
The place is large and purpose-built, so that genuine in-Athens-feeling you still have to go elsewhere to get.
From the airport you are better off travelling via Markoupolo rather than the highway coming i from the north of the city.

Unique Quality: A very, very nice sea bath with a private beach which is a delight, and sheltered from mechanised water sports activities. And there are many water sports facilities available for the hotels' guests.
The breakfast buffet is very good - much beyond the quick continental hickup breakfast in lesser places...
The dining opportunities are extremely good, and a little walk out toward the highway will take you to one of the best sea food restaurants I have come across in Greece. High class type of thing, but still a slight feeling of being artificial.
Staying at these hotels out here at Vouligameni is the next best thing to go on a luxury stay at the islands.

Excellent Hotel! Recommended!

by TripAdvisor Member styleandfashion888

We just came back from a few days in Astir Palace.
It was excellent!
check in - very friendly and quick and helpful
Rooms - Excellent; very big, all with beautiful sea view, huge bathrooms, all brand new, no complain at all from fussy travellers!
Facilities - Excellent; big pool and ocean pool; plus you can dive into the sea if you want to and have a swim. Swimming pool looks a bit tired, needs a renovation but it did not affect the quality of our holiday.
Food - lunch time buffet is ok (nothing special) but very overpriced (of course having Australian dollars in Europe does not help).
Location - excellent; lovely area around us with cure restaurants on the beach (10 min walking) or a few nice restaurants in Gleffada (where hotel's shuttle takes you for free). Athens itself is not a super nice city to stay in so staying in Astir palace is a perfect combination between being able to explore Athens and having a lovely relaxing holiday pool / beach time as well.
Heaps of kids by the pool too.
Overall - great hotel, will return again!
If you are after absolute luxury there are beautiful villas in the same complex (called Matshushu or something like that; also part of Starwood); they have private pools on the deck and beautiful sea views. They are expensive but worth it.

Great location - take care over time of year you go

by TripAdvisor Member JLS24

We have just returned from a 6 night stay at the Astir Palace.

The location and views are fabulous, and indeed the weather was amazing.

However beware of staying in October. There was virtually no pool service whatsoever, Taverna 37, and all facilities at the Arion were completely closed, and the pool bar at the Astir was only prepared to serve coke, and then made it very clear we should consider ourselves lucky that the bar was open at all, and there was certainly no food available by the pool/beach at all.

There is no real concierge service to speak of, recommendations for restaurants were ltd pretty much to the hotel complex. The minibus also doesnt stop in Vougliameni - you can only go to Glyfada or Athens, very strange! You are therefore at the mercy of the local taxi drivers, about 50% of the ones called by the hotel tried to rip us off, and overcharge.

Breakfast - the buffet spread was great - but again service was pretty slow/poor - technically there was a chef to cook your eggs/omellete fresh for you but you were usually doing well to find him.

The rooms were great.

Best bits - the views, the pool area, and the use of the Arion Spa which was truly amazing and made up for the lack of pool service.

Overal - probably a fabulous stay in the summer months - off season - and this includes mid season beware of conferences (it is a huge conference hotel, and they take over the restaurants sometimes) - and the cliosure of many pool facilities - even though the temperature is still 77 plus!

Modern hotel, lovely setting, patchy service

by TripAdvisor Member smcp

First, this hotel bills itself as the Westin Athens but you are several miles outside of Athens on the "Greek Riviera". A small exclusive enclave of several hotels and a private beach, you are in a location favored by wealthy Athenians for weekend and summer breaks.
The Westin forms part of a complex that also includes the Starwood property of the Arion Spa, soon to be joined by the W Hotel. As such you have access to all the facilities of both hotels which is a big plus.
The Westin is a modern, stylish hotel where all the rooms in the hotel face the ocean with private balconies. This affords you a nice view of the cove with the sparkling blue waters. The rooms are very comfortable with big bathrooms and the usual high standard Westin beds. Breakfast is a vast buffet affair of high quality and variety. A number of choices for dinner are on offer from the two hotels but the Blue Hydra restaurant which is the resorts high end restaurant (until Nobo opens next year) is excellent with outstanding service and food. Pity this service does not extend to the rest of the hotel.....in the three days we were there only once did the bar staff at the pool offer us service. This is a missed opportunity for both the hotel and the guests. However, the check in staff and concierge were friendly and though we had a few communication issues with the spa staff, they again were very professional and friendly.
The Westin is more family focused then the Arion, and as other guests have mentioned kids can run riot. For a more private and adult stay consider the Arion.
This is an upscale, well run hotel and spa perfect for families and those couples looking to chill out in a private setting. Nothing of real value to highlight but a safe bet for a relaxing and pleasant stay.

Great service, suburban location....

by TripAdvisor Member HPAdobe

My family stayed here for 5 nights in May '08 and had a wonderful time. Superior service, like a Four Seasons Hotel in the U.S. - we felt very well taken care of. They accommodated our request to cram 2 roll-aways in our room for our two small children; bar service around the pool and beach was excellent; every request we had of the staff was attended to quickly and with a smile.

Very kid-friendly hotel and staff. For example, the 5th floor bar is an excellent place to catch the sunset each evening and while my wife and I sipped something from the bar, our kids could order from a kids menu or have ice cream.

Location is outside of the bustle of the city of Athens. It's about a 25 min taxi ride to the Acropolis and other downtown attractions. The concierge arranged private tours with reputable guides to see the major attractions.

Lot's of couples there were on honeymoons - very private, secure feeling at this hotel.

Relaxing...

by TripAdvisor Member Milana009

We stayed in Westin 12 days and it was just relaxing and we were doing absolutely nothing, just breakfast, beach, dinner. The hotel itself great, everything is made for your comfort, the service is good but posh orientated. For example if you ask the concierge about dining you will get guides only for VERY expensive restaurants, if you ask about the car, it is twice expensive, the yacht was 3000 euro!! So if you want good value for resonable money don't ask concierge. Be reminded there is not much to do around the hotel! The hotel does not have any shows, live music etc. The nearest nice restaurant is Oceanis, i definitely advise you.The prices in hotel are just ridiculos!! 45 euro for salad i suppose too much. On the beach the prices are fine, beer 7 euro, cocktail 14. On the weekends many Greeks come just to the beach, so make sure you reserve your place at the beach. Water attractions were great. Athens just 30 min by taxi (20euro), but is was just boiling there, so we could not stay long. In general if you are looking for very-very expensive and posh treat hotel this is the place to go.
