Weather in Athens - is it affected by volcano ash?

by yankwok

Hi, is there anyone travelling in Athens right now? Is the weather ok? Is there any air pollution caused by the volcano ashes?

Re: Weather in Athens - is it affected by volcano ash?

guess Athens is in the middle of poiltical-cum-economic ash these days, unfortunately, but tourists are vsisitng the country with no reports here of any major disruptions...

Depending upon your origin, weather would be somewhere from warm to very hot these days in Athens

i'm just north of athens and there is no ash to be seen.

the ash has not been visible to the human eye anywhere outside iceland by the way and there has been no effect in europe apart from a lot of planes not being able to fly.

Seen this from Etravel.org:

"Volcanic ash that has caused disruption to air travel across much of Europe over the past few weeks is now said to be clearing as the eruption in Iceland loses power and winds change course.

Yesterday, almost 30 flights were cancelled in Spain - mainly in the Balearic Islands - and low cost airline EasyJet suffered some disruption on flights to the Canary Islands, Madeira and North Africa.

Airlines are now breathing a sigh of relief, however, as most airports are open in time for the start of one of Europe's busiest travel periods: Spring Bank Holiday and the May half term school holidays.

Ash spewed from the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland earlier this week, causing disruption in many places including Scotland, Spain, the Balearic Islands, and Portugal - but the wind has now carried the ash away from most European airspace."

I'm keeping an eye on the volcano myself, I've got friends due to fly next week and we're hoping all goes well:

the recent ash cloud has kinda died out and does not give much problems anymore, but the vulcano might spue more out later this week of course, but as for now you are ok.

Visit the Acropolis! Its amazing and beautiful. Try to avoid it in the mid day summer sun as there is not much protection from the heat up there. Watchiing a full moon rising over the flood lit Acropolis whilst walking to dinner one night ... it was breathtaking!

Have a tour for some islands

Have a tour for some islands
Take a cruise for 3 nearby irlands of Asronic Gulf will guarantee a whole nice day to you.

Sailing a boat on the sea, enjoying the gorgeous sunshine and the mild wind blowing from the sea, watching lots of white sea gulls flying around you, and waiting for a surprise from the naughty dolphins jumping out of the sea... What a nice cruise!!

Sally

Sally... met her first time in Ivan's Kolonaki apartment. There was a VT meeting that evening in Kolonaki.

Sally is American. She doesn't quite like taking pix with her glasses on ... sorry, Sally, this is the only pix I've of you. This lady... she is deep, very deep! She single-handedly arranged her daughter's marriage by getting a suitor for her from her own law firm! Lol... I didn't think this kind of arrangement still exists in the United States! But, anyhow, this is for real!

Great meeting her. Very entertaining lady :-)
