Bus/taxi from Sami
by geoff999
Is there a bus from Sami to Argostoli on Sundays? If not, what does a taxi cost?

Last year we arrived at Fiscardo with a ferry on a Sunday, no buses. The taxi to Argostoli was 50 Euro! Sami is much closer.
The Argostoli KTEL bus station was very bad for getting information, even on days that did have buses. Don't depend on bus schedules on the internet, we ended up renting a car because these were out of date or season.

I think there are no KTEL buses on Sundays. You may find a bus coming off a ferry (part of the Athens <> Argostoli bus service). You best ask about that in Sami, try the ferry ticket agents.
A taxi should be about 25 Euros or thereabouts.
I used buses all over Kefalonia and they ran to timetable which I got from the Argostoli bus station. Including ones to the ferries from Poros, Sami and Fiskardo with no problems. The bus times to/from Fiskardo did not match with ferries, but was OK if you arrived in Fiskardo before the 16:30 to Argostoli.
This gives you an idea, but as I say some times may be modded for ferries, as always seasonal variations etc.

Travel Tips for Argostolion
DRAPANOS BRIDGE AND THE OBELISK
by Christianne
Drapanos bridge links the town the othe opposite side of the lagoon. The construction of the bridge was carried out in 1813 under the supervision of the Colonel De Bosset on behalf of the English. There used to be a plaque, on the obelisk, with the date of the construction, wich doesn't exist anymore.
BEACH OF MAKRYS YIALOS
by Christianne
From the crossroad, known as Konismataki, beliw Pharaoh Hill, you take the surfaced road to the left which lead to the two beaches.
Don't go there very late because you will not find where to park the car.
On the photo, Radmilo my husband, very happy, because we found where to park the car.
Argostoli, the capital of Cefalonia
by JLBG
Argostoli (ΑσΥοςτολι), Argostolion for VT, is both the capital of the island and of the nome (prefecture). It is a busy little town of 13,000. As well as Sami, was entirely destroyed during the 1953 earthquake and nothing was rebuilt in the previous Venetian style. When staying on Cefalonia, this may be the place where you come for shopping but not the place to spend much time.
