Villa Nerina: Secluded Villa

by Jannice48

This beautiful luxury Villa is situated between Svoronata and Sarlata. It has got to be the best holiday accommodation I have ever stayed in while on holiday on any of the Greek Islands. We have been to Kefalonia 3 times now and previous to staying here we have also stayed in nice apartments but Villa Nerina wins hands down as favourite. The Villa is set on three floors with two double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom each with ensuite shower rooms. There is an open plan living room/dining/kitchen area. The kitchen is fitted with oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher. There is a large dining area and the lounge area with leather sofas, tv, dvd and cd player. On the lower floor there is a utility room with washing machine, iron and ironing board. Also on the lower ground floor there is two double sofa beds, tv, cd player, playstation and a pool table. This floor is ideal if you have teenagers with you. The owners Sharon and Steve Osbourne have thought of everything to make you feel very welcome in their holiday home, they even provided a welcome pack for when we first arrived and I would like to say a big thank you to them for letting us stay here for our holiday in June 2008. I would highly recommend this Villa to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday with their family. We went the first week of June and we paid £1000,00 which for eight of us worked out at £150 each

Kefalonia Garden Village: AquaPark

by Flyingfriar

Hotel was ok, but I never will choose this hotel again. Hotel is located far away from the nearest city Lixouri. Description of the KGV is very misleading. Actually there's only one reason to choose this hotel - AquaPark. There's no beach, just a seashore and "all inclusive" is actually "partly all inclusive". Normally in Greece all local drinks are in All inclusive- list but noit in KGV. Such a local drinks like Metaxa or Retsina you have to buy. Also playing tennis costs 5 euros / hour. Food was good but monotony - same salads almost every day and no show cooking. Most funniest thing was that credit cards are not accepted and there was no possibilities to buy to a room bill.

Hotel is absolutely not a four star hotel, you won't find any luxury or high level service. June 2008 wasn't our first holiday in a Greek four star hotel, so we knew what to expect. In Corfu or in Crete you will find good family hotels at the same price.

Tara Beach Hotel: Hotel in Skala

by LittleDee

Tara Beach is a very pretty hotel which in Greece terms is reasonably basic. However it has everything we needed but don't go there if you expect a TV and DVD on tap.

Breakfast was a very basic affair but if you wanted to you could go into Skala which was a 5 minute walk and get a more substantial breakfast. The plus point was that breakfast was served on a lovely sunny terrace overlooking the sea.

If we went back to Skala again, we would stay there because it was a very welcoming hotel and ideally located for all the restaurants and bars as well as the beach which is just over a very quiet road.

Very pretty and great location.

Angela Studios: Lourdas

by Susi_Blackforest

We had a very pleasant stay at the Angela Studios right at the beach.
The studios were very basic, very clean and serviced regularly.
No pool, as we don't need one anyway being right at the beach.

Studio Violatos: Self catering option

by s583

We went with a package holiday which included flight and transfer.

Over all, the studio was clean and well maintained. It overlooked the mountains and the sea. We were not fussy and were allocated to one facing the mountains.

Nights on Ayia Efemia were nice and quiet apart from the cicadas calling out all nights. Adela shouted back at the particular crescendo of cicadas chorus on day we spent in a park in Argostoli. It was hilarious!

Ok, there were some plumbing issues which two of us put right on night number 2 but other than that it was OK.

It is close to all transport and harbour. The neighbourhood was quiet and there was no bass-thumping bars to keep us awake at night except of course the cicadas.

Makis Studios: Ideal Location

by Jannice48

The Makis Studios are situated in an ideal location just off the top of the main street in Skala, set on on an incline 700 metres from the long beach , therefore may not be suitable for people with walking difficlulties. The studios are ideally suited for holidaymakers to soak up the atmostphere of a typically greek village. The studios are cleaned daily and sheets and towels changed every day and I believe they now all have air conditioning installed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend them

The family run Makis Studios are small and friendly. There is a lovely pool with plenty of sunbeds where you can spend lazy hazy days soaking up the sun in a peaceful location. There is a poolside bar where you can get snack meals and drinks

San Giorgio: Beautiful Views

by Jannice48

We stayed Bed and Breakfast at the San Giorgio on our second visit to the Island. The Hotel is situated on a elevated position overlooking the sea on the main beach road into Poros. The Hotel was very clean and this was maintained by the cleaners daily. The apartments are fully equipped with fridge, shower and telephone. Some of them (Family) have a living room, most have a private balcony or veranda. The San Giorgio consists of rooms for 2, 4 or 6 persons and all with air conditioning. The owners were very friendly and could always be seen around the Hotel and joined in the activities that were going on. The hotel is situated on a hill so probably not recommended for anyone with walking difficulties. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone but would warn people who have walking difficulties that it is a steep climb to some of the apartments and would definately stay there if and when we go to Kefalonia again for our Holidays

The Hotel overlooks a magnificant gulf near the Scala area. The hotel is built at the foot of a mountain and has breathtaking views of both the mountain and the sea. The Ionion sea is only 50 metres from the complex. There are two lovely big swimming pools one with a childrens paddling area next to it. Sun beds and umbrellas are plentiful and there is a poolside bar and Cafeteria where you can purchase some lovely meals (snacks) during the day. It also has a restaurant where you can your evening meal.

Memmi Rooms: On the Main Road

by nickandchris

A basic room in central Skala. Little did we know that the local bus, dustbin lorry and every other vehicle in the area would travel down this road at 6am.!!!
Another problem was the owner using a chain-saw on the roof above us. Not the most peaceful of rooms.
Michael wasn't used to a shower so every evening we would fill his paddling pool and put it on the balcony and wash him in there. Very successful!!! We would have our pre-dinner drinks and watch him playing in the water.

These rooms did share a kitchen but I don't remember using it.

Close to village amenities and beach.

CHRISTINA STUDIOS: Accomodation One Step Away from the Sea!

by sassa22

I was lucky to find availability only 2 days before my arrival at the beautiful island of Cefalonia.

I would recommend Christina Studios for those who seek a quiet place to stay, and at the same time want to be close to more "cosmopolitan" places, such as Skala, Lassi, etc.

If you don't own a car or you are not planning to rent one, Lourdas Beach is full of picturesque taverns down by the beach or some 100m up on the hill. Prices are very reasonable, especially at the 'Blue Sea' tavern, where food is divine! (Tip: try to go where you see more Greeks than foreigners)

Our neighbours where of all "kinds": families, couples, groups of friends.

All 14 studios are brand new (built 2 years ago), very CLEAN and fully-equipped. (If only I knew that beforehand, I wouldn't have carried sheets, towels and cutlery with me!).

They all had a spacious balcony with views on the beach, where you can enjoy your frappe-coffee, while gazing at the sunset. What's worth is that each balcony is private and you have no contact with the neighbours!

Inside our studio there was a wall-mount television set, air-conditioning, spacious closet (incl. safe), fridge, kitchen (clean cutlery, pots and pans, even chopping board and colander!)

The garbage is taken out every day, while the rooms are cleaned (incl. change of sheets and towels) every three days or earlier if necessary.

The owners, Mrs Christina and Mr. Gerassimos are very friendly, polite, and always at your service whenever you need them. It is obvious that they care more about having happy and satisfied guests, and less about making a fortune.

Here comes the best part:

The beach is only one step away! Clean turquoise blue waters , white sand, not very crowded. A real beauty!

here is a website , but also try to google "christina studios"+cefalonia, and you'll find better pictures.

San lorenzo village: One of the best self catering places around on kef

by dickiemint

San Lorenzo has about 45 apartment all nicely place around a large pool. The views are second to nun. The area is very quite and only a short walk from the taverna and the main area. The sunset are a picture waiting to be taken.

The pool area is more than enough for the amount of poeple that can stay at the place.
If you get hungry there is a bar and catering service on hand.
