Venetian Fortress At Gramvoussa by Wingshot
Across from Balos beach lies the island of Gramvoussa, home to a Venetian castle which was constructed beginning in 1579. It sits 135 meters above the sea, and was practically impregnable. It was one of three sites maintained by the Venetians during the Turkish occupation of Crete.The castle today is pretty much ruined, but is worth a visit for the views.
