Chania base for the independant tourist

We have just returned to Norway after our sixth visit to Crete and our fifth holiday at Lefka Apartments. During three years we have used Lefka as our base to explore Western Crete, the owners have made substantial improvements all of all which have improved the comfort further. The location, 2 km away from the centre of Chania is perfect - away from the congestion of the town (but only five minutes by bus), and equally important for us, away from the "conveyor belt tourism" of Platanias and the other towns further west. Lefka are the only apartments in the immediate area, bordering on a the residential area so you really feel like you are in Greece and not just a "tourist town". For the visitor who wishes to explore the area by car, there this a large private park and it is only a three-minute drive to the main east-west highway on the island giving access to all areas (without having to drive into the middle of the town which can be quite exciting). Another joy of Lefka is the interesting mixture of independent travellers who stay there, coming from different countries, arriving and leaving every day, so there are always new faces to meet at the Pool Bar.

Unique Quality: Lovely small complex of 8 each 1 bedroom apartments and 8 studios with the most beautiful swimming pool in front. This is is a beautiful oasis surrounded by flowering trees.

Finally, there are the owners and staff who are some of the nicest, and most service minded, people who I have had the pleasure to meet. When you read all the glowing reviews of Lefka on other sites, it sounds too good to be true, but it is really a special place.
