Excellent,special in wintertime,
everything is going his own way
The best for musicians,painters,writers
and so on.Dont worry about the boat to
go back to crete,he always goes tomorrow.
Write your book,paint your painting,make
your poem and play the music.The boat will
leave without you.Weather permitted.

Great vieuws,big fishes and many,many
girls.The man are always fishing.

The Dunes: Agios Ioannis

One of the most beautiful beaches of Gavdos is AGIOS IOANNIS.
Here you won't find any pension, hotel, whatever, just the shadow under a little tree or your own little tent.
If you need any luxury, stay away.
If you want to get a real "back to the roots"-experience, you're right.
you'll find the unique experience of quiteness and simplicity. There are no real restrooms, no electricity, just pure nature.
Til end of june there are not even many people hanging around.

Simply amazing is the view: the blue sea and crete in the background - especially when the sun sets. Plus the countless stars at night.

En-Suite Facilities !!!

Just a few hundred metre behind where we camped there was a Great little spring, the water was good to drink and also to shower in -- OK maybe a little cold !!!!!

Camping in the wild

Although officially camping isn't allowed on Gavdos lots of people do and we had No problems, We camped behind Korfu beach on some old terraces covered with pine trees, a Beautiful setting, close to a spring and really nice sandy beach. There are one or two buildings close to the beach at we heard that this will soon be turned into an official camp site -- Maybe that will spoil the natural charm so you might have to look for somewhere else if this happens !!???
