PERLEAS MANSION: The Most Hospitable Mansion in Kambos
Perleas Mansion is indeed not a hotel but a place to remember, exactly as it is written on its site. The Mansion is situated in the Kambos area, about 7 kms from the Town of Chios.
I felt as if I had been in another dimension upon entering its massive gate. The humidity in the air and all those aromas bursting in the air coming from the orange, mandarin and lemon trees gave me a feeling I never before had experienced. So many fragrances mixed in the air. A four-acre earthly paradise garden. It isn't easy for me to describe all this -the beauty and nobility of this Mansion. If you ever visit the island of Chios, I suggest that you spend at least one night here!
The distinctive aroma of the citrus trees and the legendary jasmine made me get up much earlier in the morning and it was the first time I heard birds singing at five o’clock in the morning at the first streak of dawn.
The main building of the Estate is a mansion built in 1640 in the distinctive lines of Genoan architecture. It is accompanied by two smaller houses, that were used as a store for the products that were going to be exported. The mansion was repaired after the great earthquake that hit Chios in 1881 and some additions have been made since then, but the original appearance has remained practically intact.
Its large yards embroidered with pebbles, the austere appearance of the buildings, its walls and impressive gardens with big alleys and arcades, the draw-wells and marble cisterns with pergolas is what characterizes these buildings of the Mansion.
All rooms have large windows with a splendid view to the garden.
The corridor in front of the rooms has an impressive array of antiques, objects d’art and various creations by Perleas’s managers. All these add a most impressive touch to the interior of the apartment, even an old cinematographic camera of 1935. But antiques can be found all around the place, even in the dining and the sitting room.
Vagelis Xidas and his wife Kleri, very humble persons, run this business today with much passion and love. Vangelis as a child used to work in the orchid of Perleas, looking after the trees and the soil. He is very dedicated to everything he does, and he is also the creator of the Citrus company (www.citrus-chios.gr).

"Spitakia" in Avgonima: A First Class Accommodation
I was searching the net to find the Best Traditional accommodation and now that I have been here I can assure that "Spitakia" is a first class accommodation possessing the official EOT (GREEK National Tourism) sign.
And this is not all. It involves a number of other activities like, - beeing a member of "Gourmet and Hosting network". The Green Net of Chios, a member of Hotel Owners Union in Chios, and a member of "Rooms to let union".
The host is Mr. Missetzis and I can asure that he does his work with passion. He is involed with so much but yet finds time to please and care for the least detail just to make your stay here unforgettable.
He will be your guide and advisor if you wish, suggesting the best alternatives, give tips as to how to get advantage of the time you spare on the island. He is so passionate with everything he does that you will feel you have a friend out here from the first moment you come to "Avgonima Spitakia".
Spitakia are located in five parts of the village. The furniture used belongs to the "Aegean" collection, and all of them are fully equipped with kitchen, a TV set and air conditioning.
In some of the rooms there is a fire place, and in others central heaters.
The furniture both inside and out in the small verandas and yards, and all equipment are so carefully chosen to make the visitors stays peaceful and enjoyable.
In some of the houses the verandas are much bigger with really comfortable deck chairs, and the views are fantastic.
There is a wood stove and barbecue for people who love this activity in the yard of "Spitakia.
I had the chance to see several rooms - if not all -, and believe me each one has its own style.
They are just perfect. Some of them which are higher like (spitaki 3) is equipped with benches and offers a splendid view of the Aegean.
"SPITAKIA CAFE"
The traditional breakfast, which includes lots of traditional Chios products like dairy products high quality filter and other types of coffe, home made pastries and marmalade made by the family housewives is served at spitakia snack bar in the center of Avgonyma every day from 08.30 to 10.30. The price is 7,50€ per person per day.
Enjoy a glass of fresh fruit, or enjoy your ouzo or suma at the Spitakia Cafe. Have it on the rocks with a mixture of fruit or nuts at Spitakia bar.
Spitakia Cafe, also offers you all the necessary food items and other useful products. Three times a week, usually in the afternoon a greengrocer visits the village in a red van, which stops at the square.
So, with ALL these amenities and services, and with a passionate host like George you have every chance to have the Best holidays ever!!! I can assure of this.

IANTHE: Vessa's Best Hotel
The Traditional Hotel "Ianthe" is located in the medieval village of Vessa, in the north-west part of the village. It is a Neo-classic building of 1880, and is inspired by the classical architecture of ancient Greece.
It impresses you the moment you step in. The owners here have indeed made a great job, paying attention to the least detail. It gives out a feeling of such homeliness that you want to stay indoors and enjoy this comfort. Mr. Giannis Dokoumetzides being an architect, and his wife a Proffesor of Fine Arts are so kind and hospitable people that you will feel you know them years ago.
It comprises of a reception, a dining area, common area and kitchen all in the same space on the ground floor. The inside decoration and furniture match with the style of the house, and it is obvious that the owners love this place and respect their visitors.
On the first floor there are four apartments with one, two or three rooms.
There is a large yard and garden outside this traditional house, but I guess you would love to spend your time indoors because it is so warm and hospitable.
