Klio Apartments: Basic but nice

A nice family run apartment complex set in gardens with a swimming pool, pool bar, children’s play area, Restaurant and a Main bar. There is also a computer inside the main building for internet access ( €1 for 20 minutes). Children’s play area and a Lounge
The apartments are basic but not wanting of anything except maybe a toaster and a couple of extra plates. Air Con is with an extra fee of €75 for 2 weeks. Safety deposit boxes are fitted in the rooms and are €25 for 2 weeks. Rooms are cleaned every other day with sheets and towels changed every 3 although they seem to come for about 3 days then miss one.
Wednesdays is Karaoke night from 21:00
The Restaraunt is basic, we tried it just the once and to be honest although it was not expensive the food was awfull, there are much better places within a short walk.

Budget City Hotels in Heraklio

Budget city hotels are very basic some of them do not even have breakfast.
If you are looking for something cheap you are not going to find it on web, they are small hotels with out web adverts.
Search them directly at the "Hellenic chamber of hotels" page that includes all the accommodation in Greece.
http://www.grhotels.gr/

Use as criteria of search 2 or 3 star hotels.

From all of them I 've stayed at ATHINAIKON and MEDITERRANEAN both clean but very very basic and old-fashioned.The first one is apr.200 meters from the port entrance and you need to catch a bus(only two stops away) for the city center. The second one is located in the city center.

Kasapakis Apartements: Close to sea and horizon

Lovely, idyllic hotel way aside the loudy, popular beaches (so it was at least decades back). Hotel provids wonderful, fresh, fruity, tasty, modest breakfast on their porch in quiet, red colored greek dawn. Looks almost like paradise as the village of Analipsi anyway has kept its small village charme. Hotels, cafes and tavernas are relatively small in numbers there, and do not compromise the restful pace of life that visitors seeks there.

Alexander Beach Hotel ****: Best choice in Malia

Probably the best accomodation in Malia / Stalida area. The hotel is built in a "smal village" style. Right by the beach, a few minutes by the city centre. You can either book in a B/B or H/B basis. Ideal for families & couples.

Unique Quality: My stay there was complimentary - some of the benefits of working as a PA to a Consultant in the European Travel Market :P
The room was simple but beach front & a basket of fresh fruits together with a botlle of local red wine was waiting for me. My table for the dinner was right by the beach/sea view. What more could I ask for?
Agis at the main bar, is a real pro on cocktails. Ask him any cocktail, he will make it in its best possible version.
Eleni at the breakfast & dinner: We asked her where we could get some home-made pastries. Two days after, she had prepared them home especially for us. Cretan hospitality :-)

Kassavetis apartments: Right in the center

We stayed at Kassavetis apartments in central Hersonissos. We liked this hotel, as soon as you stepped out of the building you were in the middle of the main street. I don´t recall any disturbances though.

Unique Quality: The staff was great back in 1999. It has good facilities. Two swimmingpools, a mini-market, internet-access and a safe.
