More about Pefki Islands Resort
Loved the pefki islands
We stayed at this property for 10 days in May. The whole experience was extremely positive and I believe the property should have 4 stars. Not sure why this is a 3 star property, maybe due to lack of restaurant??? The room was large and clean, but air con is expensive around 50 euros for our stay but we managed without. The position of the resort was just right and the staff were great....Katerina on reception was especially helpful..I emailed before we arrived requesting a high floor and sea view and got both!! The pool area was pleasant and price of drinks at the bar reasonable.
The only real downside is that they are tied to thomson and we found the trips expensive...but we had booked a couple before realising the local travel agents were cheaper. The marmaris trip was a good experience apart from being dragged to a carpet and jewellery shop by the tour guide...beware. The other trip we booked was cancelled due to lack of interest...I dont think the rep told the guests enough about the the trips as i'm sure there would have been much more interest...
The resort it self has some good cafes and restaurants. We would recommend the sea view cafe for lunch which is close to the main beach...good value and service.
Enigmas was ok for we felt overrated, philosophia had a great view was more expensive but worth it.
Our favourites was Nefeli which was close to the pefkos beach hotel and an Italian restaurant whose name escapes me but it was just along from the taxis on the opposite side of the road from enigma and also the Chinese further along was quite good.,also a good quiz night if you like that sort of thing at oasis bar which is on the road to the main beach...also do lovely cocktails!!!
Lots of mossies about, get a plug in and we found soltans after sun with the added mossie repellent really worked...not one bite!!
On the whole an excellent holiday, beautiful beaches and fantastic weather...we didn’t bother with lindos we wanted to stay in pefkos we liked it that much..
High Standards Make This An Ideal Choice
We stayed at the Pefki Islands Resort on a late named package deal, booked approx. 4 weeks before. The accommodation is of an excellent standard with lovely views of either the pool or open countryside. Our room was overlooking the pool, but it appears that no matter which room you are allocated nearly all rooms have a decent view. Rooms were very clean and modern. The resort is ideal of a quiet holiday with some decent restaurants and bars. Excellent pools, well maintained and plenty of sun beds available. The resort is ideal of families and couples.
Fantastic modern friendly apartments in a lovely low key resort
Pefki Islands Resort in Pefkos was a real delight. It's just so nice to arrive on holiday and find where you're staying is exactly as it was described in the Thomson brochure. It has two lovely pools, with plenty of space to sun bath. We stayed in block G which I believe is in the newest part of the development, slightly away from the more lively of the two pool bars. We had a studio which slept two in perfect comfort - basically it was like staying in a larger than normal hotel room with a small kitchen area attached. The kichen area is small, modern and adequate for preparing only very basic meals - but then again why would you want to spend much time in the kichen on your holiday anyway. The decor of the room is modern throughout and the bathroom is as good as you would get in a four star hotel in Spain - which for Greece is a rarety. A mixture of families and couples (both young and old) stayed at Pefki Islands and so this added to the relaxed atmosphere. The staff are all very good and helpful - the supermarket at the sister hotel across the street is one of the best value in Pefkos which is an added bonus. The site is located just 5 minutes walk from a beautiful beach (one of the best on the island) and only slightly further away is the main resort centre of Pefkos. Pefkos itself has a wide selection of restaurants (most very good) with some very nice bars too. The atmosphere is low key and relaxed - live music and entertainment is not widely available, but very chilled evenings full of good food, wine and conversation together with a beautiful backdrop of pine clad hills are. Mosquitoes are around in large numbers, so be prepared to be bitten and buying a plug-in mosquitoe repellent is essential. The only negative comment for Pefki Islands and I must stress this wasn't a major problem - is that the main pool bar does frequently have karaoke nights, which do on occasions carry on past 11pm (so if you're used to going to bed early be prepared. However, 90% of the time the resort is quiet, relaxed and perfect for rest and relaxation. With Lindos just 3 miles away, the location is ideal and although Lindos probably has more traditional charm, it is more impersonal and crowded than Pefkos. We'll definately be going back to Pefkos and Pefki Islands Resort. Stuart & Joanne.
Relaxed holiday, good apartments
We have just recently returned from a weeks holiday at the Pefki Islands resort, we were in Rhodes for a family wedding and stayed at the Pefki as that’s were the rest of the wedding party were staying. On the whole we couldn’t fault the Pefki Island, all the apartments our party stayed in were very clean and looked as if they had just been decorated. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. Although we did not eat from the poolside bar some of our party did and the food always looked very nice. The hotel and its staff really looked after the Bride and Groom on their wedding day, they were given flowers, champagne and discount off a meal in a local restaurant. Our only complaint as mentioned in other reviews was the music, the music around the main pool bar was far too loud during the day, and if you were sitting having a drink you had to shout if you wanted to talk or order a drink. We were in Block D so right next to the pool which was great by day but beware if you stay in this block of the karaoke night, the memory of sitting in my apartment listening to some bloke murdering Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol will stay with me forever. Pefkos itself is a one street town but there are good bus links to Lindos, Lardos and Rhodes town, the bus stop in Rhodes town is between the Old Town and the new so you can easily spend a day their wandering around the Old Town. If you don’t want to cater for yourself there are some good restaurants in Pefkos, most restaurants have the same menu but some are better than others. For meals until 3pm try the Fuse Bar (just off the main street on the main drag down to the beach) its run by and English lady Lindsay and her husband. For evening meals try The Correllie (just out of Pefkos on the road to Lardos), we went there for the wedding reception, for three of the nights of our holiday we ate at the Thelassol(I think that’s the correct name) it’s on the way out of Pefkos towards Lardos on the right hand side. We were also recommended the Greek House by some brits who live in Rhodes but never got the chance to try it. On the whole we had a good holiday and would recommend the apartment.
very well run complex
I think the review by pinkchocolatejoey sums up very well the Pefki Islands experience. We too have just returned and found It a well maintained, clean and good value for money site. The staff in reception are efficient, the maid service is excellent and the bar/food is of a good quality. With the beach and town within easy walking distance, with mainly a high quality of food being served everything you need for a relaxing holiday is here.
My only complaint is in regard to the overloud entertainment from the main pool area. Although the Greek night was fun, with a good live band and dancers, the karaoke was more like an endurance test. It made Johnny Vegas in "Benidorm" sound like Pavarotti, and was so loud that it drowned out the TV in our room. We were in block D, which is possibly the closest to the loud bar area, but other areas may be less disturbed.
Other than that, the site is generally quiet, but please be sure to take precautions against the mossies, a plug in device seems to work well at night, but a spray or cream repellent is advisable too. All in all though, I would recommend Pefki Islands for a relaxing holiday.
idyllic and tranquil
went to the pefki islands in may 07 as the first customers of the season, and what can i say! we were well impressed on first arrival, check in was quick and the reception staff friendly. we emailed beforehand to ask for a sea view and a high floor room and we got a partial sea view and the high floor. they dont actually have full sea view rooms so we were more than delighted with what we got.
the room itself was spotless and spacious with a basic kitchen which was fine because eating out is so cheap. this was our first girlie holiday without our husbands and we felt very safe. even going into the town at night.
The beach is fairly small but amazing!!!!!
we ate breakfast at the pool bar most morings as it was great value and would also recommend philosophia which is behind the hotel down a track with tables overlooking the beach. the food here is fantastic!!!
would also thoroughly recomend enigma and nostalgia restaurants we had fantastic meals for between 30 and 40 euros including wine and starters.
all in all this a quite a small resort, very greek and if you want more nightlife you can always get a taxi into Lindos for 6 euros.
Also try the pastry shop up the hill it is well worth the walk.
would recommend and definately intend to return to the pefki islands.
This hotel is absolutely lovely. Not too far from the airport (about 1hr but well worth the wait). We were greeted by friendly helpful staff, the room is basic but has everything you need to be extremely comfortable and self reliant. We were located on the ground floor right next to the bar which gave great access to the pool but at night could get a bit loud with the entertainment. The entertainment was great, we have a supremes tribute band, karaoke, greek dancing to name just a few and teh bar staff were such charmers and soon had my two bottles of water waiting for me in the morning before we would head out for our travels. The pool area was lovely and well maintained and the pool bar was just fab to have a cooling cocktail without having to get out the pool :) The location is great, a very short walk to the village which had lots of fab restaraunts (everyone must go to Enigma!) and within walking distance of a taxi rank and the bus stop. Cant recommend this place enough!
After reading the reviews, we worried our hopes were too high. Thankfully, this was not the case. The hotel was immaculately clean, well appointed, and spacious.
Firstly the rooms were very large, we stayed in a 2 bed apartment, in which both rooms were en-suite. The kitchenette was adequate for a short stay, as long as you aren't thinking of cooking a roast. The only downside to the rooms were the hard mattresses.
The hotel grounds were of a very high standard, with 2 pools and plenty of sun loungers. There is also use of the kids club in the Lindia thallos next door. The staff in both hotels were always courteous and helpful.
The slim sandy beach is a short stroll through the neighboring sister hotel, though this does include around 65 steps.
Pefkos itself is restaurants, bars and supermarkets. if you want anything traditionally greek, you'll have to travel the short distance to Lindos. Saying that, there were some great restaurants, including Enigma and Nerfeli. If you're looking for a great cocktail, good music and a friendly atmosphere, you can't go far wrong with Rock Garden, which is less than a 5 min stroll from the hotel.
Rhodes town and Lindos are well worth a visit, tho be aware, unlike us!!, that the acropolis in Lindos is closed on mondays.
All in all, this was a great R&R break. We would recommend this hotel to others seeking some chill out time, especially with children!!!.
We have just returned after a 10 day break at this wonderful hotel. We have been to quite a few Greek Islands and this is by far the best accommodation we have stayed in. Everyone who works there really can't do enough for you. They are all extremely pleasant and helpful. The rooms have all been recently refurbished and are cleaned every day (except Sunday).
The hotel is a short stroll from the centre of Pefkos where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. Recommended are Two Brothers and Notalgia for food (stay away from the restaurants with 3 course set menus).
All in all, a fabulous hotel, lovely resort and excellent weather (it as 37 degrees one day!)
"A good bar to go to"
this bar is called the Pefki Cocktail Bar and it is always busy and the guys that run it..as seen in the picture are nuts.
