The challenge of Pindos
On November 2nd and 3rd 2002, NO LIMITS, the company for outdoor activities, organizes the toughest race ever held in Greece!!! It's a two day crossing on mountain bike combined with running on the mountain of Pindos, and specifically in the area of Konitsa and Zagori. Groups of 2 people will start at the central square of the town of Konitsa on bikes.
The routes are,
1st day: KONITSA - BOURAZANI - ARISTI BRIDGE - KLIDONIA BRIDGE - PALIA KLIDONIA - LAPATOS - ASTRAKA REFUGE.
2nd day: ASTRAKA REFUGE - KARTEROS - VRISOCHORI - PALEOSELI REFUGE - PIGI - KONITSA.
The groups must have a third person as support for the transportation of the bikes. The athletes members of the same group must stick together all throughout tha race until the end.
The race is named "the Challenge of Pindos" and our ambition is to establish it as one of the adventures activities in Greece as well as internationally. Moreover, it's been designed in a way so that it goes though the most beautiful pots of Pindos.
So, you are invited to the toughest crossing racein Greece!!
Thank you and we are expecting you.
Dodoni is the most important...
by christos
Dodoni is the most important ancient greek oracle. It is the oldest one (founded 14th century BC even maybe 17th century BC) so it is related with the greek identity itself as people were consulting the oracle to name their gods and take important decisions concerning politics! Don't miss it!!
Holocaust Monument
by mikey_e
There is a small monument to those of Ioannina's residents who were killed in the Holocaust. The overwhelming majority of the Jewish community was deported and murdered in death camps in Eastern Europe.
city hall
by mindcrime
The City Hall is located opposite the famous clock in central square in Ioannina center.
It used to be the Turkish headquarters that was burnt out in 1928. The national bank of Greece built this building in 1936 based on plans of the architect Zoumboulidis in post byzantine style. Until 1950 it was bank branch and in 1960 the bank leaves and at the first floor houses the kings that visit Ioannina while at the ground floor housed for some years the Zosimea Library.
In our days the city hall is at the first floor while the ground floor is used for art exhibitions. Unfortunately, I never been inside.
