Guesthouse Koulis: Guesthouse Koulis

Guesthouse Koulis is a simple but cozy small guesthouse in center of Megalo Papingo. It was built according to local architecture and has 6 traditional rooms featuring wooden ceilings, woven rugs and local handicrafts while some of them include a fireplace. Some rooms have nice view towards the mountains so others to the village. There was also a small TV and a fridge and we used the central heating as it was very cold in late December.

A simple place but we liked the comfort and the rooms although it was on the low price category for the area (about 50euro for a double room)

We met the owner Vangelis at the entrance, a friendly and polite man that show us the room and was willing to answer our questions. We met him again at the café near by (Café Koulis by the way) when we went to eat some dessert.

Near the front door there is a cozy small room with fireplace where quest can relax next to the fireplace and enjoy coffee and cake, there we got breakfast for free (coffee, cake, bread and local honey and marmalade). During the warmer months there are tables on the frontyard.

There was free wi-fi through out the guesthouse.
You can park near the hotel

Another great recommendation of Mardaska.

This guest house is situated at a dead end road in Makro Papingon. The house used to belong to gia gia (grand mother in Greek) and her ancestors. A few years ago the son Petros decided to turn the place into a guest house, and with the help of Mariuska they created this fabulous place.

The place has been renovated preserving the traditional style of the area. Every single detail from the smallest has been taken into consideration. 50 Albanian stone workers were brought over to help with the construction of the houses. Every material was recycled from the surroundings.

With Astraka mountain unwinding in the back, the place is a dream and you feel like you are inside a storybook.

The facilities are top quality and the service is outstanding. The warmth of the owners really made us feel at home.

Avragonio: Traditional Guest House

I stayed in a room of the new buildings....It was huge!!! It was decorated in a traditional way with a beautiful fireplace and a wooden ceiling.

Avragonio: Traditional Guest House

The village is full of guest houses and hotels. All of them are built in the traditional style.

Avragonio has two sections. The original old building with 6 traditional rooms and a bunch of new buildings, around the main courtyard. All of them are beautiful and with great views.

Breakfast is served in a beautiful indoor restaurant or, if the weather is nice, at the main courtyard overlooking the peaks of the mountain.
