water entry-no big dropoffs (recent knee injury

Ideally sand vs. pebbles, almost a cove bay type layout.

my research led to messonghi but someone said no go to pelekas.

anyone with knowledge please help, should be within40 minute cab ride from cruiseport and easy to get cab back for return . appreciated

My advise, after visiting the island many times is to have a look at Kalami. A beautiful small natural bay. The beach is pebbles but all other things you mentioned are catereed for. A few local tavernas, vry unspoilt. Once discovered I am sure you would return again to this magical little bay. Take a look at Nikolas apartments, he also runs a local taverna in Agni Bay and the local tourist information at Kalami.Car journey is about 40 mins. Kalami is straight up the coast above Corfu town and looks out to Albania. Hope this is useful. Kazalown (England)

Travel Tips for Corfu Island

Kassiopi - The Temple of Zeus?

by Jerelis

Before we parked the car we already drove past the Church of Panaghia Kassiopitissa (Church of the Slessed Virgin Kassopitras), which we definately wanted to see. After we parked the car at the beautiful circular harbour it was a good time to take our bearings and try to find out how to get back to the historical Panaghi Kassiopitissa. The church possibly has been built on the place of an ancient temple dedicated to Zeus Kassius. The church was initially destroyed in 1537 by the Turks, but was rebuilt by the Venetians around 1590. We especially liked the icon of the Slessed Virgin and the belfry tower.

We were very disappointed to hear that we were not allowed to enter the church. We would have loved to do so and feel and witness the vibe of such an historical place. When we were trying to get a glimpse of the inside of the church by walking around it, looking for a window we were addressed by a Greek priest. Although he didn't speak one single word of English it was clear to us that he wanted to show us something. We were luckily surprised that we were allowed to enter his small adjoining parsonage. It was an amazing experience! Probably more than we ever hoped for.

Address:
Village of Kassiopi.

Directions:
Situated at the north east side of the island. It is a 17 km drive from the capital of Corfu, Corfu Town.

Canal d'Amour, Corfu, Greece

by apekovic

Famous coves of the Canal D'Amour is an area of eroding sandstone cliffs that have formed several tiny sand and shingle coves reached by paths and even ladders. Canal d'Amour is near the village Sidari at the north coast of the Corfu Island. There is a several hotels, hostels and apartments buildings in this area as well as restaurants, taverns and cafeterias. If you are in Corfu Island you have to visit this place.

Corfu

"Corfu Town"

One of the most popular of the Greek islands Corfu has been a top holiday destination for more than 30 years and its easy to see why. The island is very beautiful and has some of the best beaches in Greece but my favourite thing about Corfu is Corfu Town. One of the finest towns in Greece, Corfu has a varied heritage that is clear in its buildings - the Venetians, French and English have all had an influence on the look of the town (they even have a cricket pitch!). There are plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs to suit all ages and nationalities.

"Vlaheraina Monastery"

To the south of Corfu Town lies Mouse Island and Vlaheraina Monastery a pleasant area where you can swim and have something to eat.

"Sunsets"

There is something special about the sunsets in Corfu. They are among the best I've seen anywhere. I don't know why but the light seems to have a special quality about it.
