Brilliant for families
by ginaszoo
We had a fabulous holiday in Sidari, October 2001. It was my Mum and my children's first time abroad. We had the best time.
There was something for all of us. Places to walk to, trips out, places to eat and the people were so friendly.
The beaches were gently shelved so they were suitable for even the youngest of children. The sea was warm and the bays were virtually deserted. There were rocks suitable for romping across.
It was just beautiful. I cannot speak high enough of the place. I feel that the most beautiful place on earth is Paleocastristra. I had visited years ago, (before I had children), and I can say with all honesty that I wasn't disappointed on my return. We sailed around the small bays, with a wonderful man, who sang inbetween telling us of the local folk laws!
We ate locally caught fish for lunch in a small taverna with Greek music playing softly in the background, after this we boarded our bus and went to Bellavista, although I am not too keen on heights the view is spectacular. Anyone visting Corfu can't go home without seeing this wonderful place.
A Great Creator got this right!
La Bruchetta Restaurant
by dimilag
It is situated near the new port of Corfu and is a traditionnal Italian restaurant. It is family friendly and has absolutely fabulous service. The hand made pastas are famous but the seafood is also one of its specialities like Cazaretce (Pasta with fresh seafood). Italian music accompanies your dinner.
Kanoni, Pondikonissi
by JLBG
Kanoni is another famous landscape on Corfu. Actually, the landscape on the islet with the Vlacherna monastery and in the background Pontikonissi islet is breathtaking.
The first photo shows the Vlacherna monastery built in the 17th and linked to the mainland by a narrow jetty. On each side of the jetty, small boats can take you to Pontikonissi islet.
The second photo shows the Vlacherna monastery in the foreground and Pontikonissi islet in the background. Pontikonissi means “mouse island”. The church standing on the islet is dedicated to Christ Pantokrator (Ruler of All).
