"Summer in Corfu"

Me and my boyfriend went to the island of Corfu for one week in summer 2003.

"Ermones Beach"

We stayed at a nice hotel at Ermones Beach, and traveled around the island by buss to Sidhari, Dassia, Corfu Town, Glyfada.

"Glyfada beach"

Glyfada beach was my favorit! Sandy and not to hot (more wind).

Travel Tips for Corfu Island

Benitses - Ancient settlement.

by Jerelis

Located on the east coast of Corfu, Benitses is an ancient settlement dating from Roman times. Although the village was turned in recent years in a high touristic resort, the streets of the old village have managed to keep their character and authenticity. We definitely liked walking out there on the small and curving paths. We saw some beautiful old houses, which were surprisingly well maintained. We loved the old churches with their typical tower-like belfry. The people we met were very approachable and we did wonder off for quite some time.

The Roman villa and baths with their mosaic floors are evidence of the importance past of the village, it's another place of historical significance because they date back to the 3rd century A.D. Another nice historical place to visit is a stone bridge, which used to connect Achilleion with the beach at Benitses. Today Kaiser's Bridge stands halt ruined on the sand, a memento of a glorious past. We also spotted the sources for a British Aquaduct very near the village of Benitses. So enough to explore!

Beautiful Corfu

by kat-m

This is a lovely resort, very widespread though, so if walking is not your thing then a car is a must. Two lovely beaches in the heart of paleo and also coves and secluded beaches are easy to access. Taxi boats or motorboat hire is available to take you to the less accessable places. I would recomend this resort without hesitation. The scenery in and around is spectacular.
