More about Corfu Chandris Hotel
My girlfriend and I have jsut come back from a romantic break at the Hotel Corfu Chandris. THe Hotel has great facilites and the views from the 5th floor where we stayed were beautiful. You had views the well maintained gardens and the crystal blue Ionian Sea and the mountains in the distance.
Rooms were clean and tidy with a balcony. Towels changed everyday and the maids were very polite. Small lifts take you to the ground floor or to the pool area.
Pool wa slarge with a deep and shallow end, word or warning, beds reserved very earlly so good luck gettinga spot with an an umbrella, not impossible though. Beds in the gardens and the beach were charged at 3E each, bit of a dissapointement but the views are lovely and the sea is nice.
Food was varied and breakfast and dinner was good. Seats outside have fantastic views whereas indoors it is a bit like a canteen but thats what I expected anyway.
Overall a nice hotel really glad, had a fantastic break with lots of great memories. Boat trips are much cheaper if you go to the beach and ride the "Asteras" 20E each for a day boat trip to the north of the island and lunch, well worth it. Walk along the beach to the left and there are some nice bars, Scheria Island being one, sit back at the front of the bar with a glass if wine and watch the moon ripple over the ocean! Nice.
Dasia, is quite quiet, but there is enough to keep you occupied, If you want a nice relaxing break, with good food, nice facilites then you wont be dissapointed with this Hotel.
Just returned from a week at the Corfu Chandris with my husband, We booked with Travel City Direct was a little worried as hadn't used this company before and I must say they were Very Good with Taxi transfers from the airport so no hanging around waiting for everyone! The hotel was well worth 4* rating , we booked a standard room which overlooked the pool and sea.
Room had 6 foot bed ,tv, FREE SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX! mini-bar,
air-con and bathroom had all complimentary smellies which were replaced when used. the hotel lobby was very impressive as was dining room and terrace. OK so you have to pay for the sunbeds by the beach but 3 euro's isn't bad ! the doughnuts on the beach are a must have!! (mouth watering just thinking about them) food was very good, plenty of variety. entertainment was a bit hit and miss! but lots of bars and places to eat over the road.
Dream is a good place for something british to eat and drink also had internet access which is a lot cheaper than hotel.
Bar,mini-bar and telephone in room expensive in Hotel.
The gym was excellent with steam room ,jacuzzi and sauna.
Found that they weren't enough sun-beds around the pool but didn't both us we prefer the beach.Weather helped in the 30's all week except for one day rain. Would love to return one day.
Just returned from a week at the Corfu Chandris in Dassia. I have to admit that the hotel exceeded all our expectations. From the moment you enter thru the lobby u cannot be anything than impressed. Rooms were spacious and appeared to have been recently decorated. We had a king size bed and for those ROMANTICS among you, there was a ceiling to floor mirror facing the bottom of the bed (hope this does not get edited).
Hotel was perfectly located. It was a short stroll thru' the well kept gardens to the beach. Sunbeds were free around the pool. We preferred to spend our time on the beach simply because it was cooler in the 90 degree plus temperatures. Sunbeds were discounted from 6 to 4 euros for Thomson customers on the beach. No extra charge for the fixed wooden umbrellas. Food was excellent and varied. Great choices all round. Normal English breakfasts and a wide variety in the evening. Try and sit and eat on the veranda and enjoy the views. Resort was laid back but not too quiet. There must have been a selection of about a dozen bars and the same number of restaraunts. We found the bars to be of high quality. Try Woodpecker's across the road from the hotel. We also enjoyed Viva's for cocktails. Alex;s which was partly owned by a nice Welsh woman and best of all for us, Jaranda? the Garden Bar at the edge of the resort. Cannot remember the exact name but it was set under a series of Palm Trees and played excellent 80's and 90's music.
Finally please ignore any previous bad reviews of this hotel as it has definitely been upgraded since attaining the Thomson Platinum grading. So enjoy.
Platinum? I think not!
A friend and I stayed at the Corfu Chandris at the beginning of September. We arrived full of hope, thinking that booking a Thompson Platinum Hotel would mean it was of a high standard.
The morning (4am) we arrived we were directed to a room underneath the swimming pool. To get to this room we were given a map and no help and sent off to wander outside. We are both girls in our late 20's with heavy suitcases but were offered no assistance with getting them up and down flights of stairs. The room was down a outside corridor which wasn't particularly pleasant or clean. Upon entering the room we realised that there was a constant hum from the pool and that it was surrounded by only a couple of rooms. As my friend did not feel safe in the room and I had spotted something big and black dart under the bed we returned to reception to request a move. We were told there were no rooms available so requested someone come and catch whatever had darted under the bed (at this point I thought it was probably a roach). The security guard came to catch the mysterious bug. After having poked around a bit a mouse started running across the room. At this point we refused to go back to that room, the only explanation offered was that it ,must have entered under the door. Having pulled our suitcases back up the stairs to reception and complained about the mouse a room suddenly became available and we were moved to the main hotel.
The room was better but quite shabby and no where near 100% clean.
The food was standard buffet, of the same quality you seem to get in all hotels.
The resort was dead, we had been told it was lively without being too lively - it was very quiet.
Trips wise we went on the Albania trip, don't go if you expect to see much of albania but do go if you want to see the UNESCO world heritage site (although it is a lot less impressive than the photos)
If this is the standard of a Thompson Platinum hotel I would hate to go to a normal Thompson hotel!
A stunning setting. Well kept gardens going down to a beach area. Staff couteous and helpful. Food good and varied in our experience. Really good to chill out and enjoy. Probably not for families with young children or teenagers but really pleasant for couples and older families.
Enterntainment was not overly stunning but there is an outdoor cinema facility that can take up some slack if you are feeling bored. Some entertainment was good and the hotel did make an effort to provide a varied set of events.
The area is lively without being too wild. Try Sidari for that sort of resort. We hired a car for a week and visited many places. The best was Agni. Brilliant snorkelling and the food in Toulas is great. We all agreed that for a balance of good beach, easy access and available sunbeds, the hotel was as good as the rest and better in many respects.
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone.
Great location and hotel
We stayed there for two weeks. Food was great (try lamb!!). The sea is always calm and easy to enter so it's a benefit for families with kids. there is a water entertainment centre right on the beach so young people can have a lot of fun all day long (get your wallets ready :)
service is nice rooms are clean. they all have sea view (main building) but one wing of the hotel is worse than the rest. Some rooms on floors 3-5 (like from *01 to *05) are situated over the kitchen roof and central conditioning system. we stayed in such room for 2 days but then had it changed easily
lots of supermarkets restaurants around.
We stayed here from October 20th till the 27th and loved the hotel. We were a little apprehensive after reading some reviews on here but got a last minute deal for half term and were very pleasantly surprised.
The hotel is very nicely decorated and has particularly stunning lobby and entrance area. It has a dining room, a couple of bars and a beach snack bar. The bedrooms are simple but attractive, comfortable and clean. They have balconies and the views are absolutely amazing. The bathrooms are very good - with a good pressure shower and bath and the usual toilettires, etc. The hotel has a pool which was heated (a little) and great facilities such as a gym, jacuzzis and sauna.
The staff in the dining rooms and behind the desk were all lovely. The grounds staff and cleaners were also very nice. The gym staff and lifeguards were great with the exception of one man who was a little highly strung about the lending of towels for the sunbeds! Around the pool there were a limited number of sunbeds, many were claimed very early each morning by the placing of towels hours before anyone wanted to use them - I imagine this was even worse in high season, but there were loads available on the beach which is beautiful - very close to the hotel with a crystal clear sea.
The hotel is located in Dassia which is about 25 mninutes bus ride to Corfu town - only 1 euro. There are lots of bars and restaurants and shops around the hotel, many of these were closed as it was the very end of the season but there was still enough going on for us and the peace and quite was just what we were looking for, but if you want lots of night life and hustle and bustle you probably should go in the busy period.
We stayed half board and had been scared by the food reviews on here - but how far they are from the truth! The food was absolutely beautiful. There was such a wide and varied selection which DID change from day to day. The food was always well cooked with the best of ingredients, we have over-eaten all week! Maybe they have acted on the complaints of previous guests but there really isn't a problem now.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anybody and hope that we will return one day.
stayed here may 22nd to 29th, very nice hotel, lovely surroundings, top marks to 2 thompson reps, very helpful, would recommend hotel, def not for party animals, but very good for a chilled week away.....
