Corfu's best hotel

Recently renovated, the best hotel in central Corfu town.
Not a real 5 star hotel in any sense but friendly and helpfull professional trained staff.
Real issues are in the details.
Overall great all rounder with a touch of classical class.
I recommend a bed and breakfast basis only stay; as drinks and meals are very expensive (compared to locale standards).

Unique Quality: The location is excellent - central
- nicel view over the bay
- indoor pool and spa
- beautiful relax gardens
- real fresh orange juice at breakfast
- VIP suite
- the head receptionist and Thomas the waiter.

Staff make you feel great

This hotel is a place where Europeans stay. It is a nice Old World hotel. My only complaint is that the central air conditioner, which could not be adjusted, was too weak. Air does not really circulate in the rooms. We were there for a week during the hottest time of the year. The a/c could use an upgrade.

The hotel's staff is outstanding, went out of their way more than once to help us. 'of course' was the usual answer to any question. Everyone is very relaxed. You have a feeling of safety as well. The salt water pool and gardens were lovely and never seemed crowded.

Children and dogs are welcome as well.
I would stay at this hotel again.

Unique Quality: pool is nice
all rooms have a view of the bay
close to the Old City
can take nice walks along the bay

Luxurious - Treat Yourself

by chrisnorrey about Corfu Palace Hotel - Corfu Town

We have never stayed in such luxury.
Superb position, spacious and comfortable room, air conditioning, impressive public areas, friendly but professional service and very good food.
For anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion, I would highly recommend it. I am sure the hotel is not unique but we found it to be the best we had ever stayed in.

"SO RELAXING"

Our second visit to Corfu Island. First time was our honeymoon in 1982. Back then, we stayed at Ipsos. This time (23 years later, older & wiser) we stayed in Corfu Town at the Corfu Palace Hotel. Magnificent view out across the bay and the sunsets were unbelievable.

"Keep Your Eyes & Mind Open"

We spotted some quite interesting vehicles while we were there.

"Another Wonderful View."

Words cannot really express the beauty of the scenery and views that are to be found all around Corfu Town.

Paleokastritsa is a town on Corfu Island. Are you sure that it is also the name of your hotel? Check again.

Hello!
September is still good weather - this is the time i went last year, no hang on, 2 years ago. Still plenty of sun and warm. We had a random rain storm for about 30 mins - caught us unaware on a bike ride, but everything was dry again within the hour.
Don't know where your hotel is, but if it is in/near Ipsos then it will be nice!
Have fun!

Hi,
We have just retruned from there in the early hours of this morning. We booked it (half board) through Portland Direct. The hotel is superb in a superb setting. Cannot fault the service, accommodation, food or pools. HOWEVER, do be aware of the "extras" that are not listed in any brochure. If you stay by the pools you MUST buy food/drink from the hotel and this is where you enter rip off city. For example you can buy 6 x one litre bottles of water from the local supermarket (300 yards away) for E2.50. The hotel will charge you E2.50 for ONE bottle, despite the labewl clearly stating that the recommended price is E1!!. Ice creams that sell at E1.30 elsewhere the hotel will charge you E2.50. These are just 2 of the constant stream of blatant overcharging by the hotel. But, if you do go, I highly recommend the pony trekking by Trail Riders. This is advertised in the Thompson books and is well worth it. My son and I have never ridden before but Sally and Mark make it so easy. Because of the small group, you can be assured of personal attention. DO IT, 'cos you'll love it.

Me again!
guess where i have just got back from (2am this morning) - Corfu!
Ended up getting a later deal there and have a top time. Stayed in Gouvia which is a really nice place - in fact the whole East coast north of Corfu town is very good. One tip: if you are thinking of visiting the touristy shopping village of Danilia, don't bother! When we eventually found it whilst out on a moped one day, the whole place was shut down and boarded up - weeds growing everywhere, despite it being in my guide book which is only 3 years old.
Also - if you get the chance to do a day boat trip to Parga/Paxos then go for it. Very nice and relaxing day out.
Have Fun!

Travel Tips for Corfu Island

KALYPSO STAR AND THE SEA LIONS

by alyf1961

Kalypso star was a fun morning. We set off from Corfu town and sailed just out of the port. We dropped anchor and two divers went beneath the boat and caught two lobsters. We sat in the glass-bottomed boat whilst the divers showed us the lobster through the window. They also fed the fish so that shoals of fish swarmed around them in front of us. We then went to a platform in the middle of the sea where the sea lions performed a show for us.

Corfu, Paxos & Antipaxos

"CORFU"

I'm not one for beach holidays, so I mainly chose Corfu because it's so green. Good for walks and enjoying nature. But also because of it's rich history. Odysseus already discovered the Island of Kerkyra long before us.
It has a bit of everything; wonderful nature, clear blue water, historic buildings to visit and a lovely old part in the capital of Kerkyra. If you don't drive; there are buses to take you everywhere.

"PAXOS"

This 19km2 small Ionian island can be reached from Corfu port in 90 minutes by hydrofoil. There are only small pebbled beaches, no mass tourism, no huge apartment buildings. The island has 3 main towns; the capital of Gaios in the East with shops, restaurants and ferryport; Lakka in the North being a fishing village with some small hotels and restaurants; Loggos in the North-East, a small fishing village with a tavern and a very tiny harbour.
Paxos consists mainly of olivegroves, hills, coastal coves and peace and quiet. Makes great walking. I absolutely adore this tiny island and had a great time hiking it.
I used the Sunflowers guide "Landscapes of Paxos" for routes. It also has a foldout map of the routes on Paxos and Antipaxos.

"ANTIPAXOS"

Antipaxos can be reached from the town of Gaios on Paxos. There are fast ferries from the town harbour, leaving from 10am weather permitting! It takes 20-30 minutes to reach this tiniest 3km2 island with it's sandy beaches. It's mainly visited by daytrippers and yachts, for it's so tiny, you need only 2 hours to walk the whole 7,5 km island-trail. On your way you will pass vineyards, garden plots and cobbled alleys.
The last ferry back is at 5pm!!!
